No, Joker was almost destroyed in the '60's by that campy fuging television show, and after the surge in popularity, they decided to make him a jolly prankster that only enjoyed playing jokes on everyone.

Alan Moore resurrected the original Joker, which was a psycho mass murderer, and fleshed him out.

funnily enough, Choi/Oback use no inking. he does pencil sketches, and she colors them. husband and wife team.

this is a huge image, but it shows his drawing and then what she does with it. it's really all about the color.

Going back to Deadpool, when he was originally created, he was just a ripoff of the DC villain Deathstroke, a Teen Titans enemy. His unique personality came later.
