Not-so-popular movies you've seen recently that you surprisingly liked...

Samuel L. Jackson

IFC has a lot of obscure movies. 13 Tzameti was on there, it's pretty good. A Russian movie about 13 guys that are forced to/get paid to play a game of Russian Roulette-they each get one bullet, spin the chamber, and stand in a circle pointing at the back of the head in front of them.

Great first date movie btw.

I actually like Hostel a lot. When I first saw it on demand, I thought it was just going to be torture porn, and was suprised that there was actually a plot to it. And the scene with the super-excited American business man in the changing room ranks up there with some of the best scenes in cinema history; just great.

Edit:

I also liked Mr. Brooks, despite the bad reviews (although the entire movie could be done without Demi Moore, and it would have been the same, maybe better).

Been watching a lot of Sundance Channel lately.

Saw this Turkish movie the other day that was outstanding. Edge of Heaven.

So many stories interconnected and beautifully shot. Cool and interesting angles and for it to be sub titled(some parts english though) I was pulled in.
