Time is here for Martin

Secondary coach Mike Gillhamer noticed Martin's increased confidence in his play at minicamp. "He did a really nice job in the minicamp as far as taking a leadership role a little bit and knowing what he has to do," Gillhamer said. "He's feeling more comfortable with the position and he's got a little bit of experience now."

Whether Martin lines up at free or strong safety remains to be seen. He started at free safety in college, but Godfrey has manned that spot for the Panthers for the last two years.

I'm glad to see Martin stepping up into a leadership role! Gamble needs a little help leading the secondary. We have our leader at LB with Beason, but who will be our leader on the DL though?

I think Brown can eventually be that guy for us. He certainly has the work ethic and the right attitude.

I think Martin is a better free safety than Godfrey. I think he can be the ballhawk we need at the position.
they will have the same job, just on different sides of the field.

we don't really use a traditional SS anymore. what we needed was two quick safeties that can do both safety jobs.

i'm tending to believe that we have that now.

I really don't think we will see much of a drop without Harris. Godfrey will be moved to SS, Martin should excel at FS. Expect to see us moving Godfrey up towards to line for blitzing/run support a lot this season. Martin will be a ball hawk.

Anyone know where Pugh is projected?
