Gaming Sh*t

My kid won't even play the Wii at my house.

I really don't think you can go wrong with either system.

The ps3 has great single-player games and a decent online service that is free.

The 360 is much better suited for multiplayer games and Live is great but it costs $40 bucks a year. Peanuts.

I'd buy both. :)

Someone need to start making digital copies of games available on consoles like Steam. A lot of people would prefer physical copies, but with the money saved by dealing directly and cutting out materials they could sell the games for $10 less over XBL or PSN and still be making a similar or better profit.

Anyone remember the Phantom disaster? At least it gave us the Phantom lapboard, a keyboard/mouse 2-in-1 that is awesome.

I don't think the Wii's download content is bad at all. It's pretty straight forward, actually.

But then again, I couldn't live with myself if I spent more than $40 on a video game.

My brother has the other consoles and when I'm sick I play the games online and intentionally mess up. People take that poo too seriously.

You can stream Netflix to all three systems. Your gaming preference is important when it comes to which system. All 3 have pros and cons

Wii

Pros-

Free online play

Large library

Casual gamer appeal

Internal memory upgradeable with SD cards

Backwards compatibility with Gamecube games, memory cards, and controllers

Cheaper controllers

Fun to play with groups of people

Low failure rates

Lower price

Cons-

Comes with have the controller required for some games

Shovelware

Casual gamer appeal

Online service lacks depth

DLC isn't supported as well as other consoles

Controllers aren't rechargeable

PS3

Pros-

All-one-media player with Blu-ray player

Upgradeable internal memory with laptop hard drive

Rechargeable controller

Backwards compatible with PSone games (Launch systems are PS2 compatible)

I thought the newer consoles dropped this feature completely?

Free online play

Bluetooth supported accessories

Blu-ray discs have large storage space

Cons-

Weak launch library (this has gotten better)

Online gaming services lacks compared to XBox Live

Some games aren't ported well

Online gaming lacks an included headset and leaderboards. Otherwise, it is on par with XBL.

XBox 360

Pros-

Backwards compatible with XBox games

XBox Live is the most expansive online service

Large library

No disk required for netflix streaming

Cons-

Proprietary memory upgrade

Lower end models require upgrades to connect to internet

This is not true at all. All models can connect out of the box

Launch systems had high failure rate (this issue seems to been have addressed)

Controllers aren't rechargeable (this is upgradeable)

The controllers use AA batteries; there are battery packs available that can be plugged into the system and recharged.

Online service carries a fee

There are more than what I have listed, but I am trying to keep from flaming one system over the other

All systems can stream media. All systems have netflix streaming, but you need a disk for Wii and PS3 streaming. If you have a slower internet connection, the 360's menu can take ages to load. Then again, you wouldn't stream very well with a slow internet connection.

Those EA games are on PS3 and 360. However, if those are the only games the OP wants, why not just get them on PC?

This is why I wouldn't mind paying much, much more for Xbox Live. To keep people like you off. Xbox Live was great before Halo 2. It brought all the kiddies and trolls to Live.

Remember how bad PSN was when it first started? SOCOM almost ruined that service right off the bat.

The problem with the Wii is the amount of shovelware (crap games) that gets pushed to the console because of its motion control and drawing power for the new casual gamer. Unfortunately they also know that these casual gamers usually don't know the shovelware from the good stuff, so it's a vicious circle. The 360 and Ps3 and many more quality games.
