Defensive strategy for Saturday

I say rush with only the four down linemen much of the game, unless a complete lapse of protection occurs that allows a linebacker to come in for an easy pressure. Have Thomas Davis roam the middle of the field ready to attack the seam routes (summoning his skills from his safety days). Unless they come out in an obvious power formation, which they should quickly abandon for their three and four wide spreads once we smack James in his mouth a couple of times for running), have the two corners get physical with the two outside recievers and not give up the fly route down field. Not necessarily play a constant zone but dont send linebackers and corners on blitzes that have a good chance of being picked up, giving the veteran Warner less coverage guys to work against. clog passing lanes with defenders, not waste time with hero blitzes that are 2 seconds late.

Agree on definitely not blitzing corners. I think we should blitz linebackers and safety just a couple times, definitely not on 3rd and long like a few times

They going to be doing a lot of cuts and slants

RUN-RUN-RUN

You play defense with OFFENSE. Just like teams had to play the Colts back in their super bowl run.

Keep Warner on the Sideline watching.

You would normaly say that it would force them to throw the ball and make mistakes, but when your dealing with a team that already slings the rock, you want to limit their oppertunities.

You hope you pin them back and the try to run. Let them eat the clock and every time our offense gets the ball we SCORE.

Our defense surely should not blitz Warner. He will make them pay if they do with how he can release a quick throw. We should let Pep or Brayton or Johnson pressured him though, but not blitzing.

The key to the game is Lewis getting a good push up into the middle of the pocket. Lewis will go a long way in deciding the outcome of this game. Warner will be looking to avoid Peppers by stepping up into the pocket and buying more time. That can't happen. It's all on Lewis to stop him from doing that and killing us. I will hate Lewis for the rest of his time here if he doesn't get a good rush up the middle in this game.
