Walter Nolen??

Total out of left field, but what about Nolen at #8??

He's 21, great build, and tears apart OLmen in the SEC/everwhere.

I swear I like him more than Mason Graham.

He was the #1 overall recruit coming out of HS.

Owned senior bowl.

I feel its heavy potential, but hes got the highest ceiling in the draft.

I like him a lot--I also like Grant, Williams, and Harmon.  I have seen various rankings for Nolen and I am confused about the DTs available.  Most of what I have seen has him mid to late round 1--if that is accurate (hardly any of it is), then 8 would be a reach, but from this video, he is everywhere.

Nolen--in my mind which is based on where I get my intel, would be a reach at 8.  However, it all depends on what you are looking for and what you read about them.  I am guessing that our biggest need is the NT, but if we do not select a DT in round 1, TJ Sanders of SC was dominant when i watched the Gamecocks.  He should be there at the end of round 2.

My sleepers are Omarr Norman-Lott (Tennessee, 3rd round) and Darius Alexander (Toledo, day 3)  I think we need to double dip, so an early DT and a sleeper could work.

For what it is worth, I got this from Pro Football:

"Walter Nolen is a high-upside talent with flashes of dominance but struggles with consistency. At his best, he’s a disruptive force, overwhelming quarterbacks and ball carriers. However, he can also disappear for stretches, seemingly reacting a step too slow. His effort isn’t the issue—it’s about refining his instincts and processing. If a team can unlock his full potential, Nolen could be a steal in the draft."

Honestly, I was thinking the other day... and was like "what have I overlooked??" It's upside or potential, who has the highest and Nolen was my first thought especially with his age.

Keep in mind that this is classically how we get ourselves into trouble, taking a project way too high. 8 is WAY too high with the red flags that he has.

No one has been able to motivate him. Stay far away from this guy

Is it though?  I thought I heard something similar when he got to Texas A&M

but found this interesting

after we drafted Brown, a lot of people here were disappointed that he didn't put uo Aaron Donald numbers.  He was a generational talent.

I'd like to get a DT in the first 3 rounds, but I'd rather have a true playmaker, someone who can be all over the  field affecting the game.  We need that kind of guy on this D.

I know we can't come close to filling our many needs in this one draft, and maybe a stud DT sets us up better for the long run, but I'd rather get Jalon in the first.  And we need a CB as well as DT.  I guess we will fill some of these needs, but I'd love to have just one good FA to let us get closer to taking a couple of playmakers in the first 2 rounds...edge, dt and cb.  Deep draft for edge.  doesn't look too promising after the first couple of rounds for CB.  Hoping Mike Jackson can make a deal with us.  That would help, but ultimately I'd like to get someone better.  Might have to wait another year
