I did a nice thing...

Well not that anyone cares but I figured I would show the NASCAR thread some love...

Anyways I did a nice thing!

As you know I have been with HMS now since 2001 and have acquired a number of championships since I have been there (4 now).

Well my wife is my biggest supporter of everything I do even painting my "Man Cave" panthers colors!! However, I am mainly referring to the time I spend at work especially this past year with the new baby at home (BTW he is 1 year old today!!)

So when I received my Championship Ring order form today - I ordered a size 8 Woman's Ring!! My wife is every much as a champion as I am for putting up with my love for my job ... I dedicate this championship to her and every other spouse that withstands the strain of our jobs sometimes in the Racing World!!

Anyways no particular reason I am sharing -- just showing the NASCAR world some love!!!

By the way, 37 more days til Daytona! ;)

That's pretty sweet man, let us know what her reaction is. My wife watches NASCAR with me too, she is a Hendrick fan mostly because of Jeff though.

Reaction was good -- I had to ask for the ring size!!

I actually asked the girl that is in charge of the order forms if it was ok to do this and she said yeah --- that a lot of people did this last year. The only thing is that the ring has to have my last name on it and you can not have blanks!

The ring has not changed in the past three years -- other than the date & the change to Sprint.

    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
    • Well, we got our answer on Army today.
    • Not a chance the SEC could compete with the NFL.  In the large cities that are not in the Southeast, (LA, NYC, Chicago, SF) College football is an afterthought.
