This is an article done by pro football reference. It shows the avg age of the teams in the NFL last year. It also breaks down the offense and deffense. We were very young last year compared to most of the NFL what are the Panthers going to look like this year.http://fifthdown.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/05/06/how-to-measure-team-age-in-the-n-f-l-and-what-it-means-for-2010/

I suspect we will be one of the younger on offense and the youngest on defense across the board. What will that mean for 2010, mistakes and typical issues that occur with young teams. Hopefully we have good chemistry and stick together when the going gets tough. Even youth can be compensated for if the team shares a common goal and they all pull together. Otherwise there is infighting and locker room issues. We haven't been known for that so hopefully we avoid the drama and stay together. I do think that Fox has a pretty good coaching staff who can get the most out of the young players.

According to our roster on NFL.com our average year of birth is 1984-85, which suggests our average age is somewhere between 25-26. Which judging by that link, will definitely put us at the youngest end of the scale, but not by much. One thing to consider is that we will lose a LOT of the UDRFA, so our average might shift slightly closer to 26 after we start trimming the untalented players from our currently 84 man roster.

I bet with our young age we are one of the highest penalized teams in football next year. That will be our Achilles heel. We will have a lot of energetic young talent, but sustained drives do to defensive penalties will kill us on more than one occassion. Mark my words. Still, should be very fun to watch all these guys develop into great players. I'm most interested in watching Norwood myself.
