Armanti Edwards interview (5/7)

You still can't teach natual fluid speed.

Yes, you can. No one is born with superior fluidity. You think these guys in the NFL are just.. like that? No, they aren't. It's years, and years of grooming.

Yes, people can be fast just cuz. But without proper technique and the know how to use it, it means nothing.

Devin Hester, for example. Dude is a beast in the kick return game. A part of the game that is nothing more than improvisation. A part of the game that REALLY allows him to showcase his speed and fluidity. Now tell him to run a Fly and throw a ball at him. Is he the same Devin Hester as when he returns a punt? Hell no. Why? He ain't trained for it.

what you are saying, I think, is you can teach fast people to be faster. True, but with all the trainning in the world you still can't make a slow person fast. they will be faster than they were but you can't teach speed. not disagreeing with you at .....

You guys sure are being overly critical of this kids interview.

First of all, there are many people who don't give good interviews. That doesn't make them bad at what they do, nor does it reflect on the persons intelligence. Ya'll fail.

Secound, this kid does have many good attributes. Some can't be taught (speed and agility), others like work ethic, and all around smart football player are a couple others.

This kid will have more impact than any other rookie wr on our team cause the coaches will give this kid more opportunities with the ball in their hands than the other guys.

Stop being overly critical over every lil thing.

You spelled second wrong, FYI

Yes...yes I did.

Posting from my samsung moment, I sometimes fat finger a key or two.

Spelling may be important if professional writing...but isn't needed for basic communication.

I'm sure I'll have more as I post more from my phone. Don't have a lot of time to sit at a computer anymore.

You can't teach speed. You can teach proper technique to utilize the speed you have better, but your not faster, just more efficient.

Why do you think people run and pull weights?? Why do you think people run in a pool? Why do you think people run on sand? Why do you think people run wearing a 'chute?

It makes you faster.

These exercises help develop what are referred to as FAST TWITCH MUSCLES. Which = speed.

No, I don't know everything. But I am a former football player. I know what it takes to develop something.

After years of grooming, if Moose and Harris and many others aren't faster than they are, it's because... get this... THEY'VE REACHED THEIR PEAK.

Obviously it varies by person. Some can do more than others . Duh?

Glad to see that your Pop Warner football career is working for you. :D

All kidding aside, you do need natural speed to "develop".

If you are slow, you can work your ass off to get a little faster. However, you will never be fast.

During my 6th grade year, I ran a 6.7 40 weighing ~180lbs. By time I stopped playing football (3 or so years later), I was running 4.8s weighing ~250lbs. Now I weigh 275 and cans till run a 4.8.

You can dramatically increase your speed. I don't see how people don't get this.

Some people have god given speed, some people have good speed, some people are slow as balls. All 3 can still develop themselves and become faster.

FINALLY someone else realizes this. THANK YOU!

So you were actually talking about Junior High when you said that you were a football player......that is too funny.

Yes, because one post sheds light on my entire playing career.

I'd be playing NCAA ball right now hadn't I injured my knee (hence why I said "...when i stopped playing...")
