Yeah, but he is bringing the intensity in that stare. I wonder if he sucked his cheeks in any more than that if his face would create a blackhole and eat the universe.

Gantt tweets imo actually tell a lot. Gantt normally is a PR machine for what Carolina wants....to me.....Gantt sounds like Jimmy rubbed a lot of vets wrong already day 1 with his act. Gantt just said it nicely.

"Bottom line: There were some raised eyebrows with Clausen's forward approach. But it's one weekend minicamp -- too soon to read verdict."

to me Gantt had to hear or see some vets clearly suggest they weren't feeling Jimmy's attitude....but he is willing to give Jimmy a pass.

My guess is there were vets who encountered him and thought "hmmm, kid's pretty confident, maybe a little cocky" and then didn't give it another thought. It's not exactly shocking in their business.

Whether you like Florio or not, the "Steve Smith won't be buying a PFT T-shirt" article is now the 6th top commented article in PFT history with 174 comments. And I'd say 80% of them are calling BS on Florio for being a pussy by not speaking to Smith on the radio about the article and hiding behind his "protect the source" excuse. They other 20% defending Florio and calling Smith a punk obviously do not know anything about Smith except the he punched a teammate. And know less about the Panthers.

I feel like the father of the bride on her wedding day. Panther Nation has made me very proud.

So I've finally had the chance to listen to Smith's interview, and it really sounds pretty credible.

As has been noted before, Smith isn't exactly good at hiding his feelings or keeping his opinions to himself. I seriously doubt he's lying.

His defense is passionate, believable, and sounds full of conviction. Way more believable sounding than "an unnamed source".

Also reread Gregg Rosenthal's piece. Sounds pretty clear that he's trying to balance Florio, which likely means he thinks Florio is off-base.

Yeah, I listened to the entire interview and Smith was pretty adamant about the "I didn't say it" part. Florio made it up, just as I expected from the first article about this (also, I must note that I never actually went to their website to read anything either - I read it from second-hand sources - unnamed so don't ask).

Also, I'd post the link to the mp3 file directly but I'm not sure if that would be appreciated by the mods. I tried downloading it from their website but it keeps trying to stream via WMP, so I grabbed the URL by unnamed methods (again, I can't reveal this information). If anyone wants the file for their "Omg that poo was hilarious" archives then let me know.

I'm reading the comments from the blog - could this be our own Steve Smith who has taken a moronic commenter to task? If so, I love the guy even more than before. See below.

All of the zeroes in your contract haven't bought you any common sense or class yet; You're a great football player--that's it. Take that away & what do you become? An angry man with several assault charges & no valuable skills set. While we're on the subject of how overpaid you are, here's a stat: 67% of former NFL players are broke 3 years after their careers. Look at how you've spent your money. I'm guessing there are more rooms in your house than people and that you also have several non-economical cars. Yes, you're just like most overpaid athletes.

I'd have a hard time believing that's actually Smith. Granted, it could be, but I'd more likely expect it to be a big fan doing an impression of him.

The best rebuttal of this story I've seen so far is Charles Chandler's bit from the Observer (link) but rather than discussing the text of that story, Florio chose only to include it in his "one-liners".

Again, that's pretty weak :nonod:
