Steve hasn't liked Florio since he posted that BS story about him wanting more money and missing the first two games of '06 because of it, as in he was faking an injury.

So did the unnamed team source tell La Canfora all the details of minicamp AND that Smitty said Clausen was a punk? IDK that's just questionable.

Plus, Smitty has said nothing but good things in public about Clausen. We all know Smitty and if he's got something to say, he's gonna say it. If he thought Clausen was a punk, I'm sure he would've said it to local media pretty soon after feeling that way. (See Deangelo Hall, Jake Delhomme - "I just work here. Not my pay grade" and many more)

You know, Clausen and Smith could defuse this whole thing and make Florio look really silly if they called in on the air together tomorrow morning when Florio was on and said that Smith did call Clausen a "punk" to his face as a term of endearment... and explain that Smitty refers to all rookies as "punks" as a well know matter of practice... then Beason and DeAngelo could jump on the line and explain that Smith referred to them as punks when they were rookies.

If I was Smitty, I would have all these guys over to my house tomorrow morning for breakfast and then we would call into WFNZ when Florio was on and make him look like an idiot for running with this story.
