Everyone Pushing to Draft Yet Another WR Early

You have to give time to what we have. Wasting yet ANOTHER high draft pick on a WR is a stupid decision. Glad y'all ain't GM's. Thielen is clearly the number one option for Bryce. Legette and Coker need time to actually develop. David Moore served as a safe space, but he is literally JAG. Trading for Wilson seems like the best option. Overpaying for a journeyman veteran isn't. Higgins isn't the answer, he benefits from Chase.

We can’t evaluate WR so the only options I see is go pay a lot for a guy who is proven or draft the consensus #1 WR

Best player available. If that's a WR, then it is what it is. Sorry (not sorry). You don't reach for a player at a position of need because you feel like it. Reaching is arguably how we ended up where we are today.

Thielen is not a WR1, it doesn't look like Legette is either. Coker isn't a WR1. We arguably have three guys with WR2 upside (if we're lucky...which we're not). WR is on our list of needs, whether you like it or not. You look at what you're in the market for, choose the player with the highest grade, and put in your card. If you can trade down to gain value, then you can consider that as well. This is how this works.

Thielen literally contemplated retiring this offseason.   I don't think XL or Coker will ever be a true #1.  If there was an elite all around prospect at wr at our pick I would be totally fine with it, but I'm tired of drafting big body possession receivers who skip agility and quickness drills.

LOLOL

"big body possession receivers who skip agility and quickness drills"

I love when people just announce to everyone that they have no idea who T-Mac is as a player

This is a very short sighted take. Theilen is here one more year tops. As soon as 2026, or possibly sooner if we trade Theilen to a contender next season, our WR core could be WR1 Tet, WR2 XL, Slot Coker. Possibly switch XL and Coker.

That’s a strong young trio to grow with our QB who is younger than most of this season’s rookie QBs.

    • Not a good year to need to spend a 1st on WR considering the generational class last year, imo. Now if the board shakes out and BPA == WR... well... gotta do what they gotta do.
    • HELLLLLLL NOOOOOOOOO Lockett turns 33 a month into the season, there is no circumstance where we should be giving up draft assets for him given that alone, we need guys Bryce can grow with if he's going to be our future at QB, and if not, we need guys who will be around for whoever replaces him. Deebo is 29, only has 1 year left on his deal and in reality, just isn't a #1 WR (he only has 1 season ove4r 900 yards receiving), he's a gadget guy who can do a lot of things.  Giving up draft picks for that type of player and then needing to give them a new deal as they enter their 30 year old season. If we were to target a WR through trade this offseason, DK Metcalf would be the player I'd go after in a vacuum.  The real problem with that is DK is basically the player we want XL to turn into, just seems like a poor allocation of resources to go after a similar, albeit much better, style of player.   I wouldn't be against giving Philly a call about AJ Brown, as they don't exactly have the most harmonious relationship there, but I don't think they move him in the end no matter how next weekend goes. As I've said numerous times, T-Mac is about our only realistic option for adding a true #1 WR this offseason, if he doesn't fall to us or we don't take him if he does, that's a role/position that won't be filled until next offseason (and no, this isn't another post to say we need to take him, just pointing out the facts that there just likely won't be #1 WRs available to us given our cap/roster abilities this offseason.
    • It's very easy to figure out why this Panthers team has expansion level talent, look at the last 5 drafts               4th round RB that some fraud coachs' wife had the idea to draft is the best player in the last 5 years...... Fitterererererr was herniay without the 1st round gold, failed just as bad in Free agency ( minus on luvu...)   I've been complaining for the past couple years that Panthers need to fire any or all scouts, cause the facts are they are the worse group in the league.
