Steve Smith on ESPN First Take this morning!!!!

For those that missed it, Smitty was asked about how Jimmy did this weekend, so Smitty said he did a good job. Then without being asked about it, he made a point to say that Matt Moore did a really good job too.

He was asked how he thought the QB competition would play out, and Smitty said that Moore did a really good job at the end of last year and that Jimmy has a tough road ahead of him if he wants to beat Moore out for the job. He said that he thought having 2 young, potentially great QBs will make both of them better.

That was basically the only thing of note that they talked about.

Steve is the man. Hopefully he's still got some magic left in him. I think the coaches would be foolish to start anyone else than Matt Moore based on what Steve said about the QB situation. Go with whoever he wants.

No, the coaches would be foolish to make a final decision on who to start until they see if one separates themselves from the other. Moore earned the right to enter camp as #1, but that's it. The bottom line is that if Clausen wants to start, he needs to clearly outplay Moore, but if he does, he would deserve the start...regardless of what Steve or anyone says. And to be honest, no matter who Steve prefers right now, once the bullets start flying he'll be quite happy with whichever QB makes him look the best.
