Trevor has been exactly what I expected from him. He just doesn't have a passion for the game.

He can get better, although i doubt he ever delops to be the QB he has the potential of being.

Trevor also has a lot of injuries creeping on him the last 2 years.   Wouldn’t be surprised if he takes the intentional short career route of his own choosing.  Seeing that more and more.   He is a smart kid and from the jump he sees beyond football.

Trevor had the generational resume though.  3 seasons, 3 undefeated regular seasons.  Only 2 Ls that came in the playoffs.  And he checked every physical box.

but he wasn’t as good as Watson at Clemson.

Clemson had a much superior lineup to virtually any team they played they played in the regular season.  Having a lineup that good makes a good qb look great, and a below average qb look average.  In Lawrence's last season, Uiagalelei went 1-1 and scored 40 in a loss to Notre Dame while Lawrence was out with injury.

True.  But Trevor was still that dude largely in the college playoff.  And every team they saw minus Notre Dame was more talented.

his resume….IMO is the best college resume of the last decade.  so you take that plus his tools and I get the generational talk.

But as I said, he wasn’t even the best Clemson QB of that decade.  Resume and play aren’t the same things

The games didn't always match that. I would say he also benefitted from a weak ACC and a very strong overall Clemson team.

Not to say he wasn't clearly one of the best QB's in college but the hype was never the reality. It really hasn't ever been since high school.

Yeah, as I said…on paper, you can’t really come up with a QB with a better resume in all of college football the last 10 years and then some.

And at the same time, Trevor wasn’t even the best actual QB at Clemson during that span.

You deep dive into say his freshamn year which ended with Trevor beating that Bama team the media was going to crown the greatest team of all time when they won……and Clemson had to insert Kelly Bryant into games that year to basically get the win for a streaky Trevor.  Trevor was never Luck in reality.  He always had the dumb plays mixed in his entire career.

I agree.  I think a big part of the problem though is that the number of people who be generational (elite) qb's in the NFL is exceedingly small and its difficult to accurately judge that ability because, among other things, the talent disparity in teams.  Arguably the two best qb's in the NFL right now (Allen and Mahomes), while certainly well known, weren't called generational talents in college.  If Mahomes had played for Alabama, he would have come into the NFL with more hype than Lawrence.  But he played for Texas Tech and got drafted after Mitch Trubiski.

Tom Brady and Josh Allen could have played for Bama and no one could have predicted what he would have become.   Think they just had a longer development window that was going to be in play.

Mahomes? Who knows.  I could see him being the GOAT prospect at Bama and I also could see Saban hating Mahomes keeping him on the sideline for another prospect.  So much of what makes Mahomes is risky/dumb play that just seems to always work out….and a coach like Saban would have hated that lol.

Yeah, his mind was beyond football before he was even drafted. So this is agree with.

    • Interesting for sure, I think I remember him saying if he could go back he’d tear every ligament in his knee to jump on that ball. I get where he is coming from on this, most people, especially social media, won’t take this well.
    • I think, at 8, there will be a player someone covets.  These top teams have few needs, so they might package a first and second and maybe a future pick to move up to take a player they covet.  Gonna think out loud here for a second-- Offensive tackle--I went to a site (randomly) that lists team needs in prioritized order. ELEVEN teams list OT as a priority.  (Ravens, Browns, Bears, Jets, Niners, Seahawks, Bucs, Chiefs, Packers, Commanders, Patriots, Rams).  IMO there are 2 elite OT prospects and probably 4 to 5 with first round grades. I see Sanders and Ward (QB), Hunter (CB), Carter (Edge) and Johnson (CB) going in the top 7--Graham or TMac are probably likely to go next.  The Jets pick 7 and will not be picking a QB.  They will probably take OT Will Campbell.  At that time, there is one elite OT left and ELEVEN teams that need an OT.  Granted, some will address this need in free agency, but how many starting OTs are available?  Now, consider you are the Chiefs, Seahawks, Packers, Bucs, or Ravens.  They have little to no cap space, so grabbing a stud OT in free agency is unlikely and there are not any.  You also realize that 10 or so picking before you need an OT.  Once the Jets take an OT---the Panther phones will be ringing--teams will target Kelvin Banks, OT Texas.  If they wait, they could hope that Josh Simmons (Ohio State) falls to them, but they are unlikely to wait for the unlikely.  So the Panthers will have to ask themselves, "Would I take the Commanders' first and second and the 2026 second rounder for our first rounder?"  We do not have a second rounder in 2026.  We'd pick 29th and 61st in 2025.  That would give the Panthers 3 picks in the first 61 picks.  So who might be there? Let's say that Graham (DE Michigan) is available at #8.  Most say "No brainer."  But the Phone rings offering you two second rounders to move back 21 spots in round 1.  You have a lot of needs.  What could you get? Estimates, based on Player Rankings: 27. Derrick Harmon, DT, Oregon 57. (from Rams--not part of trade)  Donovan Ezeiruaku, Edge, Boston College 61. Maxwell Hairston, CB Kentucky (assuming Mike Jackson leaves--Hairston has been eye opening at the SR Bowl practices) So basically, to give up on Graham, you get a good CB and a good DT and a future second rounder in a draft in which you had no second round.
    • Except bryce did absolutely nothing at all accept show up with a lot of forced weight and back pack/ hoodie. No physical activity till his pro day.
