Additions complete; how satisified are you entering 2010?

I know I'm being overly optimistic but that is more fun than worrying. If I were goping to worry about something it is definitely our DT's. Im not sure what to expect there but Im going to hope A couple guys step up and surprise us.

15-1?

Man, I'd say you are being overly optimistic!!!

Im going to go with 12-4. If we did it with Jake 2 years ago why not with Moore and an easier schedule?

Well, that's first major glitch then. If you are a 1 on the enthusiasm scale and only see DT as a problem, then four loses are too high for the prediction method.

I had a feeling that 1s, 5s and too few or too many problem areas would throw things off a bit.

We've got great backs, but if they can't get holes opened as often as they need to, their numbers may suffer.

i agree the numbers will suffer a little bit the FBs are what i call the homerun players .. we will still get 5 yards a carry regardless without an amazing fullback .. but with a good one youll see a lot more 20 + yard game openers

We have a chance of winning games we score a lot of points in. Because our defense is going to give up a lot. Our LBs will be exhausted by halftime of each game.

I agree, especially early on. I think it will mirror last season in the extent that the team will struggle with consistancy early on before gelling and playing solidly down the stretch.

If teams can run on us at will, the offense will have to put up 28+ a game to win more contests than lose.

I am excited football is coming, but not sure how we will fare.

How can anyone be happy long-term? None of our core players are signed long-term, the coach and all the staff are not under contract for next year and are likely gone. We may very see a mass exodus of defensive players if we change defensive schemes to a 3-4, and there is a lockout looming. If you are happy at this point you aren't an optimist, you are delusional with a fragile handle on reality.

What positions are concerning? With the exception of the O line, which positions do we not have questions about? RB- Williams isn't signed long-term and Stewart won't hold up for 16 games. QB- Moore will be a free agent at the end of the season and everyone else are rookies. Total game experience- 8 games. WR- Smith will be 31 at the end of the season and behind him we have no proven 2nds or 3rds. DL- with the exception of Brayton- everyone else is a question mark. LB- With Davis being a free agent and Beason going to want 10 million a year there is a chance we try and replace both of them with cheaper guys. DL- seems solid but only Gamble has a proven track record.

I think the preseason and the first 3 or 4 games will go a long way to telling us what kind of team we have, but until many of these questions areas are addressed, I am waiting to see what happens.

i always respect your opinion on here, but i just dont think the team is in as bad of condition as you do.

QB position - there isnt experience, but as much as i liked delhomme, i doubt our pass offense is any worse than it was last year. i expect it to be much better accually. most on the board agree that moore is better than jake was, while there is a chance that claussen may be better than either of them

RBs - we will get williams signed i am sure. we have the best run-game in the league, i think that everyone in the organization wants to keep it that way.

Kalil Oline - our o-line is great. we wll sign kalil.

WR - smith isnt going away just yet. we will have a handfull more of good good years from him, and i think our rookie WRs, are going to be the best group weve had since the old moose/smith/proel days earlier in the decade. i will admit that anyone could be skeptical over rookies though, and i dont blame them

DL - yes i agree, we should be worried. i will point out that we werent very good against the run last year either, and that was with peppers. i think this is the weakest link on the team

LBs - we will keep both davis and beason. there is no way we can afford to have poor LBs and a poor defensive line on the same defense. Plus, i think that beason will be the "face of the franchise"

CBs / safety - i cant say we are any better, but i guess you could hope that we will have better coverage out of our safeties. we will probably lose marshall. probably will need to draft a corner in the first round next year.

John Fox - i cant really say what will happen, other than the fact that i hope we keep him, and that in turn will make hurney sign his contract as well.

and as for the lockout... i am just hoping that both the players and the owners realize that not playing football in 2011 is just a stupid idea, and they decide it is in everyones best interest to make sure that doesnt happen. i guess i am hoping for the best.

you are right about there being alot of question marks on the team, but i am just a little more optimistic about it, i guess.

agreed with all 'cept maybe losing marshall (at least this year we won't) and wanting fox to stay (although if he can get this team to the superbowl i'm on the bandwagon).

How comfortable are you with the 2010 Panthers?

4) Not enthusiatstic

As I suspected, and has recently been confirmed by John Fox's slip up regarding Chris Harris's trade, the Front Office is working to kept the player Salaries down, despite the fact we don't have a cap this year. In fact, it seems to me, we are shooting to be under the old floor.

This is not how you build a team for a winning season. Now... will it pay off down the road? Maybe... but maybe not! Either way, I think the season will be a bust.

Also, at what positions do have you have genuine (not slight) concern at?

-FB - Not convinced Fiammetta can fill Hoover's shoes, and we lack GOOD depth at this spot.

-DT - We have backups coming in as starters. This will not end well. #28 against the run this year.

-DE - Brown might have a good year. We'll have to see. I suspect we'll be middle of the pack (#14-#17) in sacks.

My prediction on the season:

9-7 and we miss the playoffs. Fox is offered a contract, but leaves for somewhere else.

Okay, his model is crap. I was trying to see if how one felt translated into how they thought the season would play out without them knowing that's what they were actually doing. I have you as 4-12.

We made enough moves in the draft to make me somewhere between satisfied and happy. I put happy. A veteran run-stuffing DT would put me solidly in the happy category.

Unless there is additonal camp bodies or an injury happens, our roster is probably 95%-100% set for camp.

How comfortable are you with the 2010 Panthers?

1) Estatic

2) Happy

3) Satisfied

4) Not enthusiatstic

5) Extremely pissed

Also, at what positions do have you have genuine (not slight) concern at?

-QB

-FB

-WR (including TEs)

-DT

-DE

-DB

Me, I'm happy, but with concerns at FB, DT and DB.

What say you all?

I am between Happy and Estatic about the 2010 team and our future.

QB is probably best situtation we have ever had.

FB we have a good young FB and our UDFA could be a steal

WR We addressed a blocking WR and Edwards who IMO is going to be a major impact to our offense.

DT I have never been too concerned with who we have on our roster. I would have like to have seen a draft pick but obviously the FO didn't.

DE I like who we have and what we added.

DB Losing Harris was questionable but I feel we will be quicker and better.

As far as 2010 and being playoff type of team. I think our team will fill every void with a player that has been with us at least one season except WR. We aren't going in depending on a bunch of rookies.

I do think our success might be depending on what the rookies contribute but they won't make or break us.

They will be our depth.

Future looks bright as HELL.

DT we did next to nothing for the 2nd straight year at probably the 2nd biggest need behind WR.

DE our additions amount to one 6th round Greg Hardy who is basically Pepper-Lite (physical specimen possibly even more questionable motor). Norwood I like there but I guarantee Fox will waste him a year at SLB before going back to DE (Gross, TD, Martin, need I go on).

Otherwise I agree.

Maybe long term the future looks bright because we will either have a bunch of young studs starter or a bunch of holes when they are cut because they can't hack it. But this year could go either way really.

So no real postional concerns? You listed positions but then sound reassured they all will be okay.

Which positions do you consider weak or lets say, not as strong as you would like?
