Godfrey has had two years of mistakes. If they keep him at FS....he has used up all the "learning/rookie mistake cards he can play".

He's had his share of injuries too, so he's not truely played two seasons worth of games. His issue is a lack of tackling technique. With sound tackling, he could be pretty darn good.

i agree with that.

he was considered early on to be a student of the game and might have been given the starting gig too early. that might have led to him becoming complacent.

i really didn't like him in TC and preseason and felt he was a pretty big disappointment because he was nothing special in coverage and was a bad tackler.

after he saw that his job could be taken away i think he kicked it into high gear. i really saw an improvement in all aspects after he came back. hopefully he can keep that momentum going.

I an nervously optimistic about this season. I think we have the talent in all three phases of the game to be a very good team (10-6 to 12-4 good). However, we are very young. This is where I get nervous. If things start to turn sour, I can see a huge disaster without the veteran leadership.

This season is a gamble and a calculated risk. I personally say we are no worse than 10-6.

I'm satisfied. One of the things that bothers me is that I'm not a big fan of the Tampa-2/Cover-2 and that's going to be the defense we run this year. Has anybody checked to see how many rushing yards per game the Colts gave up over Meeks' tenure there? Its not pretty, and it won't be here if we build our defense in the Ron Meeks mold.

So yeah, its our defense I'm most worried about, especially our defensive line. I think our LB and DBs will be fine, but if our DL is getting pushed around then our whole defense is going to collapse.

Meeks never really had the talent he had at Indy though, we are much more focused on defense.

Maybe when he had 3 interceptions in the last 5 games of the year.

Godfrey has only 2 career INTs. 1 in 08 and 1 in 09.

Martin had 3 picks in his brief work in 09 and Harris had 3 in 09 also I believe. Like I said, Godfrey really has to step it up.....2 picks in 2 years as the starting FS is pretty weak. Without crunching numbers I doubt there is a S who started the same number of games the past 2 seasons w/ fewer. Godfrey I think has started 29 of 33 games?

I'm very excited for this season mostly becasue of all the younger guys that are going to get a real chance to show what they can do. Sherrod Martin, Everette Brown, Matt Moore, Tony Fiametta, and Dwayne Jarrett are all finally going to get a chance to be starters and Im counting on at least a few of them to make Fox look like an idiot for waiting to give them a shot. Plus Im excited to see what Armanti can do with our younger, faster special teams group!

Im even more excited for the long term. This team is young as hell and is going to get better every year!!

I'm in between 3 and 4. I feel somewhat pleased but feel like we just got cheap. I'm concerned at DE, DT, SS, CB, WR, KOS, and mascot: Sir Purr is like 16 now.

Of DE, DT, DBs, WR and KOS, which are grave concern; pitfalls that will certainly cost us games. KOS will not cost us games, for example. No team out there has zero concerns...I'm just interested in the big ones.

No serious positional concerns?

I know I'm being overly optimistic but that is more fun than worrying. If I were goping to worry about something it is definitely our DT's. Im not sure what to expect there but Im going to hope A couple guys step up and surprise us.
