Carolina Panthers general manager Dan Morgan has a busy offseason ahead of him. With a defense in need of a substantial retooling, and an offense still seeking playmakers, the second-year GM is on the hunt for talent. And that’s what brought him and nearly the entire Panthers scouting department to Frisco, Texas, this past weekend. More than a dozen Carolina evaluators were on hand during the first two practices of the annual East-West Shrine Bowl on Saturday and Sunday. The group interviewed dozens of players and watched practices to get insight ahead of the draft process. Most of that group will also attend the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, later this week.

I feel like this is one of the traps that great players fall into. In their mind the game is all mental. It's all about how hard you work and study and having the right attitude. That's because for them it was. Because they already had the elite talent. But that's the thing, if you don't have the talent all that other stuff just flat out doesn't matter.

Yep.  Most of the hardest working players were never made it to the NFL.  Most of the guys who wanted it the most never made it to the NFL.   That's why I've never understood people backing up players on here like Legette recently when they say they know he's a hard worker so he will succeed.   That guarantees nothing, it helps, but it only helps so much.  That's not me taking a shot at XL, he's just a recent example I've heard it a lot.
