Josh McCown campaigns for shot with Bears

Ever think the bad defense can be linked back to Cutlers turnovers? It's hard to play good defense when you're on the field twice as long as you should be.

Their offensive line isn't "suspect." It's terrible, and will be the reason their offense struggles. Cutler/Forte/etc will not be able to be successful with that offensive line. I think their defense will be outstanding, possibly top 5, but that wouldn't be enough.

and... No they will not likely win the NFC North. Even if Favre is back, the Packers will more than likely take the division. Bears will be #3 in the division.

No doubt defense and offense go together and problems with one can affect the other. Defenses wear down if put in constant poor positions and if they stay on the field all day. Offenses that can't rely on their defense to make stops and get them the ball, constantly have long fields and pressure to score on every series which also leads to turnovers and poor decision maiking.

I think you underestimate the effect Martz will have on them. His offense doesn't require a good offensive line just a tough quarterback who is durable and can throw quickly and accurately. Plus Chicago rarely has a good offense. The year they went to the superbowl they were a top 5 defense and wildly inconsistent on offense. Great defense beats great offense most of the time.

And I don't know about the Packers this year they haven't done as much as Chicago to upgrade this year.

Packers didn't need to improve on a lot. They could have gone without a draft pick and still been a better team than the Bears.

I know I sound like I'm hating on the Bears, but I'm really not. I just don't see the hype they're getting. They still have inexperienced WR's, no offensive line, and a giant question mark for their secondary. Their D-Line/LB core is beast, I'll give you that.

We seem to have done pretty well in 2003 and in 2005 with a good D line and linebacker core. Our defensive backs were suspect. And our offense during that time was ranked typically in the 20s. I think Chicago is going to be very good this year but with all the hype they are getting, I don't think it will be a surprise.
