I seriously doubt it, unless Josh Allen goes with him.

Who knows... there may be another 6'5" 235 lb mobile QB with a cannon for an arm, with even better abilities to read and react to defenses.

I thought there'd never be another step past Cam, but then Josh comes along and you see that next evolutionary step in the big, mobile QB group. Generational talents, but also just one of them per generation I guess.

There are about 5 elite QBs in the NFL now. Brady has one in Buffalo.  The odds of him finding another in New Orleans are slim

Idk I do think ultimately Pete Carroll is a capable head coach but he's pushing his mid seventies and now he's going to be working under Mark Davis. And as far as his resume goes if I'm just being completely blunt when he was at his best in this league he will always be known as the coach who had the chance to win back to back Super Bowl's but arrogantly opted to take the ball out of the hands of Marshawn Lynch in one of the most obvious and simple run the ball scenarios in league history. He's kind of overrated.

I think their logic is to give the job to someone that can bring stability and build a winning culture at the Raiders. It’s possible that Carroll is a short term hire, perhaps 3-4 seasons, then hands the reins over to a chosen successor that builds on what is established over those seasons.

Granted, there’s an argument to hire an up-and-coming coach that can be there for a decade plus, but I suspect the likes of Johnson and Coen probably wouldn’t have wanted the job because of the instability and lack of a QB. For someone like Carroll, it’s not as big an issue because he’s not likely to be a long term hire.

That said, I’m surprised they didn’t consider Ron Rivera. 2023 was a bad year, but he did a solid job helping establish the foundation that Dan Quinn has built on.

Gets to two super bowls in a row, isn’t the offensive coordinator, is overrated.

Got it.

It's a stretch too far if anyone is going to tell me Pete Carroll had absolutely no input on that call. He wanted to try and give Russell Wilson the "glory" at the end there and it ended catastrophically. Furthermore in Wilson's time there it has been documented and confirmed he was treated one way different from some of his teammates who were held to a different standard by Pete Carroll and his staff.

Even furthermore the one Super Bowl Pete Carroll won was coincidentally the worst Super Bowl I've ever seen. That was not even a contest. From the first snap. The Broncos were dead in the water. Peyton Manning was throwing ducks all over the place. Absolute trash. Honestly I think just about any other team that year would have wiped the floor with those Broncos. The least impressive Super Bowl win in history IMO.

Anyways. He didn't ever get back there again did he?
