Trade a QB please...PLEASE! Its Cleveland all over again.

I am not a Clausen pick fan, BUT...since we got him:

1. When you look at his skills & pedigree, you have to agree he has the potential to be a

top 5-10 QB in the league. He has a gun & is very accurate, plus excellent mechanics.

2. We needed a 'quality' back up & there were none to be had (esp. since Campbell got

traded, later(?) in the draft). Clausen was great to fill that role, IMO.

3. You have to take the value when there is any possible need for the position.

4. Moore has some bit of 'unproven' to him (even tho I strongly support him & didn't feel

the need to get Clausen). A great team always has a backup plan.

* The only thing I don't like about the pick: Clausen has an major ego & I feel he will keep

running his mouth, even if Moore wins the starting job; that can hurt team chemistry.

Just my thoughts, but I like the Clausen pick the more I research him & look at his ND film. I expect Morre to win the starting position & I hope FOx does not play favorites to Clausen to 'prove' something....if he does, it will probably be Fox's last year here. It is not often a rookie QB comes in & lights it up. Not Rothlesberger or anyone else for that matter. There are very few who carried their team as rookies.

The Browns completely mis-managed the whole process. Not only did they jump the gun by giving Anderson a huge contract extension (at the time), despite having a 1st round draft pick behind him on the roster (making two well paid QBs...), but they also never declared a starter. They actually juggled the starting spot well into the season, which prevented the offence from ever having a genuine chance to develop a rhythm.

The fact of who the QBs were and where they came from meant nothing. The facts that they kept the whole organisation in limbo by treating them both as second stringers prevented both from ever having a fair shot.

it makes perfect sense. too many good receivers dropped farther than they were supposed to, thus we didn't have to spend our 2nd round pick to get a good receiver. we got one with our 3rd rounder. therefore, in hindsight, clausen was the right pick in the 2nd. there would've been no point in getting a receiver in the 2nd with the whole pool of quality receivers that dropped to the 3rd.

Alright, I see your real point now; your post left your point open to interpretation.
