i think the potential of a lockout along with the desire to extend some young players are a part of this" budget" the panthers have placed on themselves. the panthers are among the highest revenue teams in the nfl and the highest in the nfc south. before this year we have always been willing to spend money so JR is not cheap.going forward we don't know what rules will be in place once the cba is set and whether a salary cap will be in place. i know several owners are not happy about subsidizing some teams through revenue sharing of local income.

I"m sure it will be revisionist history either way this plays out..if we win next year it will be because Fox took this young team and molded them into a contender..if we lose it will be because Richardson cut the vet leadership and we couldn't compete without them...
