Great stuff. Don't take Chandler's job though....it might ruin your awesome assessments. There must be some 'dumb-down factor' when you become "legit". You are way better than any beat wirters! Thanks for your time effort & ability to keep us all informed!

Don't think it's "dumbing down" but there are some differences.

I'm not subject to a deadline (a fact made obvious by the time of day of my postings) so I'm free to take as much time as I want to get the wording just how I want it.

Also obvious? I'm not required to meet any brevity standards. That works in this format, but wouldn't in a newspaper.

And of course, I don't have an editor. What comes out is mine and mine alone. No one else has chopped it up or rewritten it.

Now, do I believe I could work under those conditions? Sure I do, but that's not the point. The point is that I don't have to.

Reasons like these are why I can't put myself in the class of the guys who get paid to cover the Panthers. They're professionals. I'm an amateur, and at the end of the day, even the most talented amateur in the world is still just an amateur.
