I'm gonna try to rank my favs:

1. Bill Hicks

2. George Carlin

3. Mitch Hedberg

4. Dave Chappelle

5. Richard Jeni (look him up if you haven't heard of him, he was the coworker in The Mask...awesome genuine light hearted stand-up)

Too bad only one of these guys is alive :(

Now before them, Buster Keaton, Milton Berle, Bob Hope & George Burns (who never really got enough credit as a straight men to his wife Gracie Allen.) Keaton was a genius at what he did!

Well somebody is on the right track.

Can't believe these guys haven't been mentioned.

In honor of the girl on Comedy Central I would like to point out that female comics are never funny.

Pretty much this. Sweet Dee from Sunny makes me laugh a lot, but I've never heard a female stand-up comedian who can make me laugh out loud.

Sarah Silverman is entertaining and is a great writer and roaster, but she's not a great stand-up.

Carlin is the GOAT IMO just for his religion bit. My personal favorites is Chappelle.

Raaaaaaaandy is amazing too.
