The mini camp thread...

No matter how well Clausen does in TC, I still think Moore will be the starting QB on opening day if only because he's shown enough to deserve that opportunity. If Clausen shows well in TC and Moore struggles, I think Moore will get the hook for Clausen pretty fast.

I talked to WR Dwayne Jarrett, who told me he’s not looking to get out of Carolina despite hiring agent Drew Rosenhaus. (Not sure I totally believe that, though). Right now he said his focus is on helping the Panthers win. He also said he likes the idea of having competition at wide receiver

I don't know if this has been mentioned anywhere, but Marty Hurney called in to WFNZ this morning, and when the guys asked him who the starting QB was, without hesitation, he said Matt Moore. I know Gantt twitted that Moore is #1, but there is a little more emphasis when it comes from the GM.

Holy fug, Jimmy Clausen didn't take over Moore's job the first day of mini camp? Color me astounded!

As much as we’ve talked about Carolina’s youth movement, it was kind of ironic to walk out to the Panthers’ afternoon minicamp session and see Steve Beuerlein, Wesley Walls and a whole bunch of other former players.

It was nothing formal, really, but it was a nice little touch. New team president Danny Morrison came up with the idea to invite a bunch of past players out to watch practice. In addition to Beuerlein and Walls, I also saw Kevin Donnalley, Tshimanga Biakabutuka, Matt Willig, Dwight Stone, Jeff Mitchell and Ricky Proehl. Heck, Kevin “The Rocket’’ Hurney, who used to work in the equipment department, even came down from North Carolina State, where he now runs the equipment department, for the day.

A guy I work with is a huge LSU fan and all he talked about was how lafell will drop passes left and right. I heard that rip pretty much told lafell that he wanted him bc he was from LSU (rip is an LSU alumn). It's kinda disconcerning that we pick a guy with terrible hands and mediocre speed bc of what school he went too. I like lafell and I'm really pulling for him but all the reports seem to say the same thing...he has the drops. Which is exactly what my buddy warned me about...kinda sucks bc we need him to step up and make some plays.
