Dale Earnhardt Jr. back to the #3

Jackson 5

Stop over any pit-stop gas station in NC and you will find that those people think Dale is the greatest driver ever. He just hasn't gotten there yet because Hendrick gives him sub-par equipment and he doesn't have a good crewchief.

I think those excuses have even been made by a few huddlers.

Just because he has fans that defend him doesnt mean he is overrated......When the media starts calling him the greatest ever and doesnt perform to par like the NFL network does to the Dallas Cowboys year end and year out then he is overrated

your argument would be like saying the Panthers are overrated but the fans make excuses of having had delhomme or Turgovac or Fox

While not agreeing with your point, what other driver routinely running in 20th place gets as much TV time as does JR?

The same way any athlete is marketable............you have a bunch of athletes in every sport that is very average to say the least, but is a fan favorite and makes that organization money, so they milk it dry while they can.

At the end of the day, its all just speculation. We don't know what is going on behind the scenes. I knew from the day it was announced that Dale Jr was going to Hendricks it was either going to be REALLY good, or really bad. I personally want him to jump ship after this season and head to RCR. Smaller team, more chance to get the better equipment, and he already has a great relationship there with Richard Childress. Plus, he needs either Pops Eury or Eury Jr. as his crew chief. Some people just aren't a good fit in certain places. Prior to the move to Hendricks, Jr was winning a couple races a year and was averaging around 14 top 10's a year. The man can drive. It's just about being comfortable wherever you are and having a team you trust and respect, and vice-versa.

I am a prophet.

They had a practice session somewhere (New Hampshire?) and out of nowhere, Jeff Gordon told Ambrose that he liked driving other cars, so they should run a few laps in each others car. Ambrose supposedly did really well.

It was Watkins Glen and apparently Ambrose ran quite a bit faster laps than did Gordon in Gordon's car. And Gordon is a top 5 road racer in NASCAR.

Ambrose would probably be a Chase contender in Hendrick's equipment. That is only if he isn't given that same inferior equipment that JR gets. :willy_nilly:

Don't worry, your #3 Wrangler die cast is on the way to fill out the Earnhardt family shrine you setup in your double-wide.

I don't want to burst your bubble that NASCAR's chosen son really has no business in the sport so yes, I agree, he is a fantastic driver and fantastic interview and he would easily win 30 races a year if he had JG's equipment.
