Forseeing Next year needs:

All I really see as a need is Defensive Tackle and Defensive End, granted we probably will not have the first 4 or 5 games of 2011 thanks to the usual once every 20 year lockout the NFL has that lasts about 10 weeks (preseason is included in those weeks) until both sides can't take the loss of millions of dollars anymore (like who the fug sacrifices 500 million dollars just to make 10 million?)

I would rather us get a DT in the first since we already got Brown and need to let him pan out before grabbing another DE in 2012. Cornerback in the 3rd for when Marshall gets traded (he is being the only *** on the team right now), and finally a center as well in the 3rd (compensatory pick we will get because of J. Pep.) because Kalil might leave. In 4 - 7 just depth after that and BPA's. There we're done, no FA rummaging and if we do I can only see us getting a WR if our 6 rookies don't pan out. Oh we might get a kicker early too since Kasay is obviously about to retire any season now.

we're not going to have the same team next year to just continue building ontop of. it never works out that way. they dump players for a variety of reasons and have to spend draft picks replacing them. there will be holes that no one can foresee until they become holes.

Ok, so steve smith retires and Clausen, moore, and Pike get career ending injuries, then Beason Demands a trade, and Gamble decides he wants to play for the UFL....

Dude, its pretty obvious that our biggest need will most likely be DT. Just like we saw the year before last our biggest need was going to be DE and we traded away our first rounder this year to mentor a young DE in 2009.

Matter a fact, the more I think about it, the more I have to agree with myself that the whole Everette Brown thing disproves what you say.

i see a safety in our future at some point in the draft .. we lost teal and harris .. francisco is good at special teams but is a liability in coverage .. pugh im not sure about .. and if either he or the ballhawk from nebraska sticks on you still cant place all your eggs in one basket .. Culliver in '11 :D

no one thought we were going to need to go out and get a bunch of linebackers this offseason. we had landon johnson and na'il diggs. no one thought defensive tackle would be a problem 'til we dumped ma'ake and damione. no one thought strong safety would be an issue 'til we dumped chris harris. people get dropped every offseason that you don't think will be dropped. you can't say let's get this position in this round and this other position in this other round. no one has any clue who will be traded or let go.

Uhhhh do you do any research? Every1 knew about the contract probs with lewis and Kemo we just thought they wouldn't pull the gun, but bo hoo they were old anyways and they weren't pro-bowl players by any stretch. Same goes for Landon Johnson and Nail Diggs they were both pedestrian and both got supplanted by the players behind them whenever the reserves got playing time.

well you pretty much always grab a WR / LB / some form of a lineman .. so that basically sums up the first 2 but honestly we rarely take a safety that we intend on playing safety .. so drafting a true safety would be nice

i don't know how reliable this website is, but according to it these are the players whose contracts expire after next year.

deangelo williams, ryan kalil, dwayne jarrett, dante rosario, rob petitti, charles johnson

after the 2011 season they say jon beason's contract expires.

they may or may not lose kalil. they'll probably franchise williams if they can't get a deal done. losing rosario and johnson would be unfortunate, but it's not that big a deal. beason is going to be looking for a big contract that will take up some cap room and may affect whether we keep or drop some other player.

if we do lose kalil then center will be just as big an issue as defensive tackle. if we lose johnson then defensive end may be an even higher priority, depending on how everette brown does. then, there's always a few veteran cuts they make which no one was expecting. maybe they cut brayton for some reason. maybe godfrey under performs once again and they cut him, making safety our highest priority. maybe marshall leaves and corner is our highest priority. maybe all those things happen and defensive tackle looks like one of our more stable positions. who knows?
