So whose fault is the Harris trade?

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

The reasons why he's gone:

The team has two safety's who can each cover one half of the field, run, cover and hit hard when needed. i.e. They're both arguably already better in coverage and though, not as hard hitting, likely good enough to stop run plays as harris used to, albeit without the highlight reel fumbles.

They're a lot younger. See: Youth movement.

The team also drafted and signed players who can play ST which Harris was likely to start winding down on given his age and shoulder issues.

He's had issues with his shoulder the past few years.

He spent a good portion of the offseason publicly stating he was disappointed in the team's philosophy to release his friends who were declining and over 30 themselves.

Basically, for the team there's players who can produce the same, who're younger and who didn't bitch out the organisation to anyone who listened.

i don't know whose idea it was to trade chris harris, but i can tell you i can't wait for the season to start before they drop any more starters. if they drop travelle wharton just 'cause he's 28 and making $5 million or so per year on average, i'm going to be quite disappointed seeing as how he's my favorite player. enough is enough. the dead weight has been cut off. they're scraping into green wood here.

Something just occured to me... its a pretty far stretch... BUT

I was just reading another thread about how Peppers will be stuffed and Harris will be stiff-armed in our game against Chicago...

Maybe Harris was traded for such lame compensation for one reason.... inside knowledge of the Bear's defensive schemes.

With Peppers going there, they are going to have supreme knowledge about our defense. Maybe Fox wanted to balance the scales for our match up later this year by bringing in one of their players while at the same time clearing some salary expense.

Could Fox really make a Belicheat move like that though?

I doubt it. They play the same defense we do. We don't exactly need a bunch of insider info to figure how to play against a cover 2.

Similar, but not identical. Anyhow, it was just a thought. Probably wrong, but it would help explain the crap compensation.

And this is a tactic some teams employ. In fact, I think there was some Eagles scrub that got traded to some team last year that caused a big stink about this sort of thing.

Uhm, thats terrible. For people to think teams bring in players to learn their former teams playbooks is a joke.

Hey now... I'm not making this up. This DOES happen. There was a big media circus about Philly (or some other team) doing something similar last year.

Besides, its just a thought. I'm not saying this is actually why.

Keep thinking... The Bears have our game circled on the schedule this year, since that one game is do or die for them. Because this game means playoffs or bust for them, they got one of our players. Not b/c they needed help there or because he is familiar with their system, but to help game plan vs the Panthers, the most important game of the year. So the week leading up to our game, Harris will have double duties. Of course game plan on defense, BUT ALSO be in the rooms with the offense to give away our out-dated signals/plans or whatever you are thinking of.

I didn't know Belichick was our coach now.
