chris was injury prone but they didnt want to pay a penalty for letting him go so they traded him for depth at linebacker...... but they did this because they feel Godfrey and Martin will be better playing the saftey positions than chris harris.......... I mean really, he could hit but he got burnt alot..... he had no cover Martin will play FS and Godfrey will move to SS because he is the better hitter but he can still cover. I like the move frees up cap incase they want to sign a vet.

I understand what you are trying to say but there is NO salary cap so we don't have to worry about "freeing up money to sign a vet".

The simple answer is that they don't view him as a "core" player so they moved him in order to strengthen a weak position. I doubt we see any more moves but there is always a chance somebody gets released that we really like.

I hope your right and the reasons were not simply monetary

Harris had some injuries, but he was not injury prone, they're two very different things.

I think this is an improvement in the passing game, but a down grade in run D. However, in a division with the Saints and the passing game of the Falcons I don't know that it;s a bad thing.

I love Harris- I love his style, his physicality, his strong vocal leadership- but he was a liability in pass coverage, particularly for a zone scheme. Martin and Godfrey are both better coverage guys, but neither one of them could have made that goal like tackle on Brandon Jacobs like Harris did and neither of them will demolish lead blockers like Harris.

I'm divided on it, but I think I understand why. The only think I don't get is why we didn't get someone of more value. He traded a proven starter for a career, thus far, back up.

Sounds like this trade search had been going on for a while. Perhaps this is the best that could be gotten. Maybe he was not worth as much a we thought he should have been.
