Nick Richards Traded to the Suns

..........

Im not follow much, but I thought Richards was what you need from your backup C?

soooooo tired, after years of not taking the preseason hype, I bite some this year and same old BS losing with trading guys I thought can play and were developed.

Starting C Mark Williams scored 31 and had 13 rebounds last night.

Starting SG Josh Green scored 3 points.

Okogie is a lockdown defensive player who hustles (we need both!) and will likely replace Green in the starting lineup.

Most folks think we won this one significantly, I’m hopeful we did.

I mean somebody can try and justify this trade but this franchise is run by clowns.  Richard’s was a young big who has finally started to turn the corner and be a very good piece and these morons trade him for a backup guy averaging 6 pts.  I don’t think I could care less about the Hornets at this point.

I thought Center was already our weakest position in terms of depth. So let's trade one of the best backup centers in the league. But thank goodness for some future second round picks

On the surface I can agree given our depth and years long void at Center trading Richards looks like it could be yet another Hornets mistake. But is it also possible maybe his talent level and overall value is being overstated? There's still a lot to be known about this trade we'll just have to wait and see.

    • No, not at all. Some of sports greatest ever are people from all backgrounds, not just “white.” Coaches included. I don’t even think I could name a NFL coach of color who I believe that they are in the position for any reason other than merit and sharing a common interest in winning with their respective management.    I would argue that the act of forcing diversity hires would harm any organization. Just bad practice all around. I understand the Rooney rule only requires that there is consideration and interviews with minority candidates. I don’t have a real big problem with that.
    • I really don’t think he will be a distraction….hope he does turn it around and becomes a better player, also, this kind of shores up the center position now lol
    • Yup There is no perfect prospect, a weakness doesn't mean he's bad at it, just that it could be better.  He’s not doing the things he did in college if he has trouble separating in the way people make it seem on here.  People here are still too hung up on the contested catch statistic that popped up on here a few months ago and the other draft busts who were also on the list.   They ignored that the next guys on the list would have been I think Chase and Jefferson, or that the reason for so many of the contested catches were due to double/triple teams and not inability to separate.  When you’re doubled on just about every snap, it’s hard to not have contested targets, he’s just good enough to still make the plays.
