Biggest salary-cap hits for the Panthers in 2025 entering the offseason:

Taylor Moton - $31.34 million

Robert Hunt - $21.65M

Derrick Brown - $18.74M

Damien Lewis - $14.57M

Jadeveon Clowney - $13.77M

Jaycee Horn - $12.47M

Bryce Young - $10.35M

A'Shawn Robinson - $9.61M

Godalmighty that is a poo load of money for our oline, and the 5th is coming up on icky.  I guess its need and worth it but fug.............

If they havent done anything with moton by now then they probably are going to ride the contract out and go from there.  Theres not really anything feasible they can do at this point except push it down the road or maybe convert to a bonus but I havent a clue what that would look like

I think a lot of people share your opinion of Mays, and I did too at one time.  So I decided to watch his last four games--he was very good in pass protection. His form, footwork, and ability to see loops and stunts and blitzes is what made me rethink Mays.  His run blocking was decent, but being beside two studs he was getting help or reaching LBs most of the time--Hunt and Lewis did not pull that much, which would have been a challenge for Mays, imo because filling is usually a difficult block for centers, especially raw ones.  At first, Mays was susceptible to bull rushes, but he adjusted and using perfect technique, nearly eliminated having his name plate in Bryce's facemask.  To me, a center who keeps people out of Bryce's face is the most important trait, and surprisingly, Mays was really good at that.

0: number of sacks surrendered by Cade Mays in 2024.

So feel good about possibly underestimating Mays.  I think he needs competition but we need a backup regardless.

Just depends on price IMO. Like I said they need a starter on a rookie deal with Ickey looking at his next contract soon. If he takes backup money then cool but if not then next please.

Lotta moving parts, that is for sure.  They will have to make tough decisions. Morgan needs to have a plan, but we need to focus on the core--that is why I think players like Shaq, Clowney, Wonnum, Dalton, and maybe even Moton could be in trouble.  Let's face it, none will be around when the Panthers are competing for the Lombardi--maybe a naive approach, but these vets are expensive.  Morgan better have a long-term plan.

I remember around 2008/9 or so, when Marty Hurney had something like $70m in cap room and he re-signed a bunch of his former draft picks on the team that just went 2-14.  He bragged that some of his picks were the highest paid at their position in the NFL. Then a year or two later, we had the Jerry Richardson "pie chart" presser--I nearly dropped my fanhood.

What if Will Campbell is available at #8? Do you think it makes sense to plan Moton's replacement? Maybe move Ickey. He might be better as a RT, without the pressure of that blind side protection. Just a thought. Personally think an Edge or DT needs to be the pick. Definitely defense, and/or move back.

Moton is the only one that is hard for me on your list because he would have dead cap while also getting rid of a good player. I'm just not sure about an extension either due to his age but then having to replace him. Just let him play next year and focus on that next year.

It's hard for me to take 'fixing' the D seriously at this point with Evero still here. Putting money into guys who helped allow the most points ever is also a hard pass for me. They need to try different people and dump a few under contract if theybare seriousnabout improving.

This is my lowest point. I don't belive in this build and all I hope for is that this crew doesn't do the quality of work you described Hurney doing.

I would probably pick him regardless if he fell to 8.  Kid is super special.  Draft him and figure out things later.  I still think he is going to the pats
