He didn't get worse the defense in front of him did...  they protected him from A LOT.

 

And being a rookie is just the # of games you have played.

He plays frantic, he plays out of control. There is nothing that suggests he's in control of his game. The net is 6' wide and there are times #52 looks like he's gotta go 15'. His 5-hole is a favorite target and, if not, give him a minute and he'll lose his stick.
