Why are you a fan of the Carolina Panthers?

In short, because they're here. Because I had always wanted a local team (grew up pulling for the Skins). Once we got a team here, I became a fan.

My loyalty to this team is quite irrational when you really think about it.

I was born and raised in NC and always loved the NFL but was stuck watching the Redskins every Sunday.....When the NFL expanded and announced Carolina would be getting a team I was thrilled. I have a very fond memory of watching the Panthers play Jacksonville in the very first preseason game. I remember how excited I was to see Bob Christian (I think) score our first touchdown and we beat the Jaguars in a close game. It was so awesome and I was hooked from the beginning.

I will never say anything negative about Jerry Richardson because without his commitment to this area - we may never have gotten a team.

I have lived in Florida and now PA for the past 8 years and I always support MY home team through the good and the bad. In short....I will always be a fan. My dream for retirement is to move back to Charlotte, get some PSL's, and enjoy the Panthers as long as I'm around. It may seem like a sappy story but it's true.
