Chris Harris Traded For LB Jamar Williams

I find it funny how CAR fans loved Harris yesterday, and knock him today.

I see why Pep, Chris, and Smith wanted out.

Welcome to every single fan base ever. Many fans had a love affair with Chris Harris and are just upset right now. But, the more observant folk have been quietly disappointed with Harris' performance after his first year with the team.

He hasn't been terrible. He just hasn't been as good as most people here would have led you to believe several hours ago.

Wow, 9 pages (at 40 posts a page) in one day. Is that a record?

Anyways, I'm not going to keep on arguing with people about Harris.

Harris, love ya, will miss ya.

I like our young guys, and they definitely can be a better set than people are willing to give them credit for.

I was not dis-satisfied with Harris' performance on the field. Yes, he was a liability in pass coverage. However, his hitting and attitude was a postive for this team. I would have been fine with him in the starting line-up. However, after his off-season moaning, bitching, and twittering...he was not the veteran leadership I wanted to see leading this team.

We have a lot of young and impressionable players. Veterans publically bashing the organization cannot be tolerated. We would have lost the locker room and this team during the season.

Urlacher Briggs Peppers T. Harris C. Harris Tinoisamoa Tillman

ROFL we'll show you how to run a 43 D

Tillman sucks....plain and simple.

Urlacher and Briggs are great.

Peppers will give you 3-4 games a year.

T Harris is nowhere near the player he was.

C. Harris will be a good run coverage addition, but will still suck in coverage.

Bears defense has SUCKED for several seasons....don't see it changing too much this season.

And, you had better hope your D gets back to their old form. With poo on the OL and a turnover machine at QB....you will need it.

I am not saying that Harris is bad...or that I necessarily agree with this move. However, to not admit that Harris was TERRIBLE in coverage is dilusional. His forte was making a big hit and creating turnovers. He was VERY good at this in 2007. However, his production in this area dropped drastically the past two years.

The issue I had with Harris was that he was always going after the big hit and/or strip. When he did not get it, he gave up some big plays.

We will be better against the pass....slightly worse against the run....and his leadership would have been missed. However, it would have only been missed if he were a team player. The way he has handled these offseason moves indicated that he was NOT the leader that everyone thought. He was spouting off on Twitter near the likes of TO. He did not agree with what the FO was doing and would have been a huge cancer on this squad. For that reason alone...he had to go.

For the record I disagree with the move. Im not saying he's the best S in the league, but he was one of the most solid S in the league. And he was a leader. I was a little shocked, especially for who we got in returned

But I'm MAINLY shaking my head at some of the things I am reading on here. Like wow. How a guy go from being loved aka the Hitman to now being sucky/overrated, and even lowered than CHARLES DAMN GODFREY

Now to get back what you're saying. Harris may have been terrible in one on one coverage at the S position. But we didn't need him to be that. The system we ran, he did his job well. When he came back last year from missing 3 GAMES, we seen the difference when he stepped in. Yes his numbers went done, but the tackles would have been higher if he played all the games, and who knows how many INT he would have got in those 3 absences. But he did have the most INT this year

He did sometimes at times give up big plays, yes. And yes I agree with the off-season assessment. But LB? No DB... smh

I am not against him because of on the field performance. His actions this offseason CLEARLY indicated that he was not the type of leader this team needs. Everyone keeps talking about his leadership. A leader does not publically bash the FO....keep twittering the crap that he has. He would have been a locker room liability....plain and simple.

Whether he is correct or not about the decisions the FO has made is yet to be seen. However, how he handled it is what got him shipped out of town.

i stated my man-love for harris.

put a gun to head---------hes NOT 2007 turnover machine, nor he he faster than beason(LB) any CB, c-god(FS), martin(s), or t davis(LB) or pep(DE).

he more than made up for it by using his football IQ. if you now whats about to happen or going to happen, you look faster than you are. harris did that and still looked slow AFTER 2007. injuries have not helped, shoulder and knee. football IQ only does so much to makeup for speed. i will miss his game.

I understand getting rid of Harris. He was a nice guy, really seemed to love Charlotte. He was just on his downward trend. It happens. Move onto better players.

However, why exactly did we pick up another LB? Aren't we uh... quite stacked at this point? I mean, honestly.

Jon Beason, Thomas Davis, Dan Connor, Eric Norwood, James Anderson, Quinton Culberson, Ivy Mortty, Jordan Senn, Sean Ware, and Brett Warrnen. Now add in Jamar Williams.

Now, I know that a couple of those above won't make the final roster. But comeon, couldn't we have gotten something a bit more worthwhile? A 6th round draft pick? Something else?
