Who? Surely not Sherrod Martin. Chris Harris, while an average safety, was much better last season than Martin. Godfrey? He sucks. Jordan Pugh? Who the hell knows anything about him?

Both those guys are much better athletes than Chris Harris.

Chris Harris is a very average specimen that makes up for it with his football smarts. He was nothing but a stop gap from the moment we traded for him. Because he is a hitter, and a vocal leader, he became an instant fan favorite. Even mine! But to not see that both Godfrey and Martin can be better than Harris, is ignorant. Chris's play has gone down, and he's getting older. The younger guys have a lot more talent. Martin was making plays all over the field for us when he was on the field.

You still don't think so? Ask Gantt. He made mention to it weeks ago that our two best safeties was Godfrey and Martin. It was only a matter of time before they got to see the field.

Add to the fact that Harris was displeased with the Panthers, that actually sped up the process of him leaving.

I understand ya love Harris. He was a great leader, and a smart football player. But he was average at best. While our younger safeties can be more than that.

Godfrey is a better tackler than coverage player. He will be moved to SS, not Martin.

I agree with Godfrey being a better tackler than a coverage guy...but the two safeties are very interchangible (sp?) in a tampa 2.

That being said..Martin would be the better FS.

Who has bashed Chris Harris? Every player has their downfalls, even the great golden Steve.

Harris was a great leader and brutal tackler, but a liability on pass plays and lacking in both speed and agility.

we have a LOT of inexperience on our d now. we all know beason is a god but he cant run the ENTIRE D. where are our leaders on d? what happens if godfrey or martin get hurt? are we starting our 6th rounder or aaron fransisco?

on a sidenote how come everytime a player is released or traded , why do they all of a sudden suck and are horrible or we never needed them anyway. They always say that the fo knows what they are doing and they trust them. didnt the fo bring in the players they are cutting? why do they suck or were never good anyway?

I am not saying that Harris is bad...or that I necessarily agree with this move. However, to not admit that Harris was TERRIBLE in coverage is dilusional. His forte was making a big hit and creating turnovers. He was VERY good at this in 2007. However, his production in this area dropped drastically the past two years.

The issue I had with Harris was that he was always going after the big hit and/or strip. When he did not get it, he gave up some big plays.

We will be better against the pass....slightly worse against the run....and his leadership would have been missed. However, it would have only been missed if he were a team player. The way he has handled these offseason moves indicated that he was NOT the leader that everyone thought. He was spouting off on Twitter near the likes of TO. He did not agree with what the FO was doing and would have been a huge cancer on this squad. For that reason alone...he had to go.

You truly need to go back and look at Peppers' past games.

This is what you will get for your $20 million.

2-4 games where he looks All-Decade.....4-5 games where he is OK....and a ton of games where you wonder if he even came out of the locker room. He is a athletic freak, but has no drive and consistency. You will praise him one game and curse him the next.

Don't believe me....go find a copy of last year's Dallas game. He was dominated by Jason Whitten....a fuging TE.
