Also, Gettis and Hardy were my favorite risk/reward picks of the draft. As always, health will be the key (AK type platitude), but they are both freaks that have everything you would want a WR and a DE to have, physically speaking. Gettis is a goddamned track star, and Hardy has huge size for a 6th Rd. DE.

It's more than just health.

Gettis has very suspect hands and never did much in college despite having amazing skills. He's comparable to someone like Mike Goodson IMO.

Also, Hardy's got as many issues with his desire as he does with his ankles, not to mention he seems to be a delicate little flower emotionally.

Both definitely worth their pick, though.

Miles Austin once had a reputation for having not bad- but terrible hands. Terrel owens did too, and he still has bad hands.

Hands might be one of the most overrated recruiting knocks. You want a "hands catcher" but a hands catcher doesn't always have to have great hands.

IOW sometimes hand catchers look as if they have bad hands because they always try to catch the ball with their hands and there is more room for error. In the NFL there is not enough seperation for a WR to consistently catch the ball with their body.

Hardy had what I consider to be the 2008 vs. 2009 Ole Miss Disease in that everything that could go right in '08 was contrasted in the '09 season. He got hurt, they started sucking as a team, Snead started acting gayer than normal, and Nutt started flirting with the Kansas job. He got labeled as a malcontent, and his stock plummeted. But for a 6th Rd. pick, he's probably the most physically gifted DE in the draft from a height/weight/speed perspective.

Gettis' mistake was going to Baylor because they have a great track program. He's a project, but 6'4" with 4.4 speed and stonehands is still something I'm okay with.

I won't lie, I hated the Clausen pick. After two months of telling us that Moore is the guy you pick up Brady Quinn's little brother. All that with Tate on the board among other D-line help. Not sure if they got some glare of the Golden Dome in their eyes. Fact is Clausen had a losing record at Notre Dame; and the Irish haven't exactly played a killer schedule the last couple of years. How many good QB's in the NFL had losing records in college. I'm sure there are some; but I doubt many. Especially those who were on teams with talent.

I'm good with the LaFell pick, little worried about his drops, some of that can be coached. Seems to give the effort that Jarrett lacks.

I agree Edwards was a talented player at ASU; but giving up a 2nd rounder for him; is almost on par with Denver taking The Golden Calf of Bristol in round 1. It will take time to learn to play WR; but I think he can get to speed on special teams quickly. Plus, I don't see a lot of wildcat and trick plays for him; this is still a John Fox team.

Norwood is a steal in the 4th round. Love his college production; little worried he is better suited for a 3-4 compared to our 4-3. But still he should see time on pass rush downs and a plus on special teams

Hardy could be a steal if he stays healthy and motivated. The physical ability to start in the NFL, but Beason may have to call him out on a radio show.

The Gettis pick shocked me after LaFell and Edwards, but you can't coach size or speed and he has both. Needs coaching and polish; but giving time could be extremely dangerous receiver.

Pugh, physical specimen with lots of experience in college, could push Wilson out and provide help on Special Teams.

I would love the Pike pick if not for Clausen. Pike has the tools to start in the NFL, but needs time to bulk up and learn the NFL system. Should carry a clip board for 3 years

Mcclann and Stanford seems to be the same pick, speed guys that can help on special teams. Given the team's few off season Free agent picks up were the same type guys; would have like to have seen an extra lineman with one of the picks.

Kinda funny the two receivers I most wanted in the draft were Tate and Gilyard and we got their QB's instead.

How many good QB's in the NFL had losing records in college.

I'm not bothering to dig up others, but the first one that comes to mind was that Jay Cutler was 11-35 during his tenure in college.
