Everyone close to the organization can't say enough positive things about this pick, I've noticed.

More removed from the organization......not so much......

DII kids just don't get a lot of love. No one gets to watch them and most assume they just aren't as good b/c of inferior competition. Edwards is a beast.

Oh really? I didn't know the people raving about him were "so close" to the organization.

Just for fun...do you see a football player like him being a bust? Not having impact?

Btw....sure is good to see you posting more frequently!

Thanks brother! =) It's good to be posting again...

As for a player of Edwards talent... No, I don't see him being a bust... I think typically athletes like that find a way to succeed on the field, if given the proper opportunities... I'm not saying he'll be the greatest thing in the NFL... Not saying he'll be another Smith... But I do believe, if he is properly utilized and coached, that he becomes a useful and quality addition to the team... And I think he stands an excellent chance of making a huge splash in the return game for us immediately... Get someone like this in the open field, and, well...... We all remember Smith as a KR/PR...

Edwards would not have been there for our next pick. It doesn't matter if he was supposed to go 20 picks later or 2 picks later on some random nfl analyst's draft board. You want a player, you go get him. There's really nothing else to it. We're a team trying to build through the draft. How effective would that idea be if we just cross our fingers and pray we get what we want? Well seeing the Clausen pick, only a little effective, and that's not good enough. Love the pick.

People complained about us taking Smith in the 3rd too... If Edwards reaches anywhere near that calibre, the FO will be geniuses for that trade... If not, they'll never live it down...

I think that's a reach, by a bit. They traded a 2nd round pick. In today's NFL, that's fool's coin, truthfully. If Armanti doesn't pan out, it is what it is... but I hardly think the "scar" of trading a 2nd rounder to move up to make a 3rd round pick will be one that long taints the Panthers reputation.

Was the pick too early? At first blush, absolutely... but only time will tell. You cannot question the kid's athleticism, ability, and instinct on the football field. The often stated "knock" on him is the Division of football he played in. There have been many good and great NFL players that have come from a Division of college football that is not Division I.

He's being given a chance, and obviously one that the Panthers believed in. I believe that Armanti won't blow that opportunity.

No way would he have been there for our next pick...From everything I've read he showed some of the best hands in the draft when he did his WR drills.

I'll love the pick if he turns into Brad Smith, much less Steve Smith.

I think that the more fans learn about Armanti and the more they see of him, the more they are going to love this pick.

Do not be suprised if the man does make an instant impact. I wouldn't be suprised to see him on the field day #1.

aka how many people hated the Smith and Peppers picks out of their drafts...

I was more talking about around here where people are still bemoaning the likes of Ellison, Colbert and Shelton, not to mention every 7th round pick that's no longer with the team, and continue to complain about trading away an early round pick to move back up and pick Otah... Basically, I'm just sayin' if he doesn't work out (and probably even if he does), people are going to bitch and moan for years to come about how we should've waited til the 5th to take him, blah, blah, blah...

Me personally... I like the player, and don't mind the deal... I think he'll do just fine...

I also agree that draft picks are often 'fools coin'...
