20/20 Hindsight: Brown and Goodson worth 2010 2nd round Pick, NOT 1st?

With hindsight, I think this is the question simply because I think the Panthers with their first rounder this year would've took Claussen anyway so in effect our 2010 Draft looks like this

1st: Claussen (paying 2nd round money)

2nd: Brown and Goodson, but with 1yr NFL experience

3rd: LaFell

3rd(in stupid trade): Edwards

4th: Norwood

6th: Hardy, Gettis, Pugh, Pike

7th: Stanford, McClain

I think its reasonable to conclude that they would've taken Claussen in the First(though perhaps in a trade down, getting another pick?), So if that is true then the above is in effect how the Panthers 2010 Draft ended up. Granted we need "time" to fully say 'was the Brown/Goodson trade worth it" but given this date in time do you think it was worth it???

I think Furney got Liquored up :sifone: after their First Round would be pick, who they tried to trade up into first round and early 2nd round to get also, fell all the way too them and by the end of the night they were Drunk enough to pull the Trigger on the Edwards Trade.

Shouldn't Tyler and Leonard be on that list too then? I'm confused.

Yeah actually with the theory of brown and goodson being part of this years draft because the picks for this year were used to obtain them Leonard and tyler should be included and edwards would be included on next years draft.

Simplified:

2009, Hurney traded our 2010 First Round Pick and with it got Brown and Goodson

leaving San Fran our 2010 #17 Draft Pick

Since Hurney would've likely taken Claussen at #17, but instead got lucky and got him at #48, and 2nd round money like Brown....

the net result of the trade, in 2010 draft terms, we got Brown and Goodson a yr early with the Value of our 2010 First Round pick, but got lucky and ended up getting the player the Panthers would've taken in the First anyway, at #48

WIth no trade, we'd likely have:

1st round: Clausen, first round money

2nd Round: probably Carlos Dunlap or Golden Tate?, Brown and Goodson would not be panthers.

I understand exactly what your saying here man, but my question is...... If your saying this years draft makes last years draft move look good when it was so questioned last year,

why would you in the same exact thread talk crap about another draft move, when a year later your gonna have to say the same thing again, cause Edwards is going to turn about to be an amazing contributor to this team. And you will say, thank God we traded that 2nd round pick and didn't let him slip to anyone else. and if we had waited till the 4th to get him, we might never have gotten Norwood........

Since we're playing the "what if" game, I would think we would've taken Dez Bryant at 17 and then (still playing the whatever game) Claussen would've been there at 48. So the real question is....

Does Brown + Goodson + Claussen make our all-around team better than Bryant + Claussen?
