Would You Trade Draft Capital for a #1 WR???

I think TMac and the Tackles are going to be the BPAs at our pick. I see the two QBs and Hunter, Graham, Carter and Johnson being the top 6. Unfortunately, even if 1 of them fall, I think the Jets will steal that player.

I would be thrilled if we were in the position to draft the top OL, but I dont think Campbell gets by the pats

Considering our needs and our R2-3 draft history, I think you gotta call about Wilson. He would be a prized get, a tier above the other potential trade targets.  See what the deal is and what we could swing.  Why tf not.

Regarding those other targets, with our FO's obsession with a certain type, it wouldn't surprise me if we call SEA about Metcalf.  Maybe send a feeler out for Deebo too.   Elsewhere, I think Michael Pittman could be a very interesting guy to call about.  He shines any time there's consistent QB play (which has been few and far between in IND)

FA wise, Higgins will obviously be a target, but I just don't see us being the winning bid.  Godwin, I'd actually like to see us pursue.  Outside of that, I don't see anyone jumping out that would want me to push aside Coker & XL's playing time for.  Some of the other proven vets are kind of past the cliff and the young talent is very mid.  Would rather draft competition.

I wouldn't give up draft capital for a #1. This defense is devoid of talent in crucial positions. And this is the draft to greatly improve that side of the ball. We've gotta stop thinking we're smarter than everyone else. Draft defense heavy in a defensive draft. Draft offense heavy in an offensive draft. We did that last year, just gotta get away from those damn RAS scores - and injured players. Side note - I honestly think we could have drafted Ladd and XL last year if we would have held put. Ladd at 33 and XL at 39.

We don't need a #1 WR. We need weapons. Guys that know what to do with the ball in their hands. I just don't feel like we have that right now. Bryce looks like the most elusive player on the team. That is not a good thing. We can find weapons 3rd - 5th rounds. Now that I think about it, I don't want Bryce thinking he has to force the ball to any player - see Diontae Johnson. That's not his game and I don't think he has the velocity to force passes like Penix and Nix.

Draft BPA. Fortunately/Unfortunately we need EVERYTHING right now. With a heavy focus on defense early.

So we are still trying to 'fix' the offense while our defense is historically horrid.  Spot on for our Panthers.  I see what is going on and it's dumb. If Thielen retires, then I kinda get it. On the other hand if we trade for a #1 WR and still can't make the playoffs next year, then it's time to clean house--again. Fug it, i'm over baby steps and moral victories.

Screw it. Honestly, if the best player on your team is a WR, and also the highest paid, you've got nothing but troubles coming up.

See Dallas.

Develop receivers, grab FAs from the second round of grabs and draft here and there. It's an important position, but save draft capital for players involved in every single snap, such as QBs, o-line and d-line, LBs, DBs.

A great receiver can break a game open. A big name receiver with a good agent can break the bank and the team's future.

I've always believed in putting resources in oline, dline and qb. If you are good in those 3 position groups you can be competitive every year.

As happy as I am with how the season finished, we still have a lot of needs. I don't think we will be able to address them all in the draft. May take some creative solutions, like what is mentioned here. Our roster has a large quantity of guys that just aren't NFL caliber players. In that way, if we can just keep the same quantity of draft picks, or potentially get a higher number of draft picks, I'm not all that opposed to some draft day trades. If through that we land at Garrett Wilson somehow, let's go.

    • Told ya there was someone. Not going to lie, I secretly thought it too. Haha Until you think about how much better Bryce was without him.
    • Probably the same with Johnson If T-Mac is there at 8, it means the players already drafted would most likely be Ward, Sanders, Hunter, Johnson, Carter, Graham, and an OT.   Realistically outside of the OT's and QB's, I think there is a clear Top 5 players emerging from most of the mock drafts and big boards in Hunter, T-Mac, Johnson, Carter, Graham. If/when the Patriots figure out their LT problem in free agency with all that cap room, that also then likely opens them up to go BPA of a non OT as well.  So what we really need to root for is that neither the Patriots or Jets are able to sign OT's in free agency and it all but ensures at least one, if not both, end up taking OT's and letting one of those other 5 players fall to us. If that doesn't happen, I'm trying to trade back to pick up as many extra picks possible and then target either Burden or whoever the best pass rushing prospect is at that point.  But if we can't get one of those 5 non QB/OT players, I think getting the extra draft picks would be better than picking someone there at 8.
