Second episode is tonight

Summary for those that didn't watch:

Cam broke some dudes face in a boxing/fight challenge and that guy had to go home.  Felt it was an odd challenge to even have because their was clearly no one you could pit against Cam and it be remotely fair.   Sure he was a tall swimmer but from the jump I told my wife the math wasn't mathing and there was no one you could pair Cam up w/ and that it would feel remotely ok.

Surprise of the show is Golden Tate IMO.  Who definitely doesn't seem wired the way we would dream up an uber successful pro athlete.  Same for the gymnast.

Gymnast (Jordyn Wieber) tapped out due to their being another water challenge. I'd said the one at the end of the first episode was basically like being asked to waterboard yourself in the surf. That one caused her to panic so the thought of another one was too much.

Trista Sutter (the original Bachelorette) left as well due to fatigue. Don't care much about bachelorettes but I was wondering whether she and Newton ever discussed the fact that she's married to a former (albeit temporary) Panther, safety Ryan Sutter.

Tate just seems kind of lost post-football. That happens to a lot of guys who have basically never done anything else. He and Cam had some drama between them over a challenge where Tate basically just mentally shut down. They buried the hatchet later after Tate redeemed himself in a later challenge.

The boxing part was pretty brutal. Newton went a little nuts on his opponent and busted his nose. Former (disgraced) Olympic track and field star Marion Jones was matched up against Travis Kelce's pre-Taylor Swift girlfriend Kayla Nicole. I thought that was kind of a mismatch. Turned out it was...the other way. Nicole broke some of Jones' ribs and she had to withdraw.

As to Newton, he was pretty heavily featured in this episode. Cam is easily the best physical specimen in the group...as you might expect. As you also might expect, his boisterous personality rubbed The straight laced, super serious military guys wrong at first, but after some initial conflict he's toned it down and actually seems to be earning their respect now.

Honestly, for Newton fans, this show is probably a pretty good watch.

    • How do we have no dead cap, no QB on a second contract, no expensive edge, no expensive CB yet, no expensive WR, etc. and we only have 30m in cap room?  It seems to me that we need to extend/rework some OG and RT deals.
    • I see this, but disagree that we need a C--Mays numbers were better than Corbett's and about on the same level as the two guards.  Now, I get that without the two guards he might struggle, but Mays quietly improved this year-as did Zavala.  Can Zavala play center?  So if you decide you want to retain Mays if possible, what tender do you put on him?  He was a sixth rounder.  I think (I dont keep up with this crap like some) we can put a second round tender on him at less than $5m, but I think, if you like his play, that an extension is the best bet, giving him about $4m per over 3 seasons.  He would take the security, imo.  You and others might argue that we could find a free agent who is better.  Either way, I think he needs to be on the roster and I think they need to have him compete.  (Rahm?) YOU are right about Jackson--he was impressive.  A good time to overhaul the Safety positions. If I am a GM on another team, I am trying to trade a day 3 pick for Zavala.  He is ready to start in the NFL, in my opinion.  Is Tremble worth a second contract?  200+ yards-his best season--good blocker.  I am on the fence because I think he was making strides--I am of the mindset that we need an Alpha TE--making Tremble's spot the #3 TE spot that a UDFA can play--maybe Matthews. I agree that Christensen will attract more $$, but if he falls through the cracks, I would sign him and make him a pure swing T.  No G, No C.  Nijman was terrible, but a young OT in the draft to groom behind Moton might be the smartest option.  Moton is getting older and has some knee pain.  Not good for a big man--but it could be nothing.
    • Yep. But RAS is like the only thing that has mattered to Tepper's Panthers since he bought the team and started using "analytics" except for when it came to QB. If RAS had mattered as much when it came to QB, they would have drafted AR instead of BY.
