I blame Gettleman and Tepper!

We could have a front office with Brandon Beane GM, Marty Hurney Advisor, Scott Fitterer Personnel Executive, Sean McDermott HC, Steve Wilks DC, Joe Brady OC

We'd be selecting QBs like Cam Newton, Josh Allen and Jayden Daniels. Nice team to have in the NFC if you blended Buffalo and Washington together with some Carolina carryovers since 2018.

We'd be seeing the Panthers dominate the NFC like the Chiefs dominate the AFC.

Some of us knew better

Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott left in 2017, that was prior to Tepper buying the team. So we can’t blame Tepper for not firing the existing staff and promoting them.

Scott Fitterer was hired by Tepper to become our GM. So the timeline doesn’t fit for his inclusion in the hypothetical front office with Brandon Beane.

Could Jerry Richardson have acted after the 2016 season to fire Rivera and Gettleman? Perhaps, but usually a recent Super Bowl appearance and near perfect season (15-1) will give a head coach and GM extra time. Rivera survived and we bounced back (11-5), while Gettleman was fired months after the draft in July. By that point Beane had already left in May to replace Buffalo’s GM. In hindsight Richardson should have acted sooner if he planned to get rid of Gettleman, but something must have occurred to force Richardon’s hand to act at such an odd time.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but there’s no guarantee things would have turned out differently under McDermott and Beane. A lot would have been dependent on Cam Newton’s health and production because we wouldn’t have been showing him the door. It does make you wonder of what could have been, but as dominant as the Bills have become under Allen, McDermott and McDermott, they have yet to make and win a Super Bowl. At least we did under Newton, Rivera and Gettleman. It’s just their ending was like Delhomme and co, it ended with defeat in the Super Bowl and eventual winding down and clearing out of the team that got there.

As sympathetic as I was to the Lions because of the Detroit factor it's honestly a relief to see Ben Johnson and the hype and arrogance behind him take a big fat L. That comeuppance was earned.

Last night’s result won’t make a difference to the Ben Johnson hype. Just like the Falcons collapse in the Super Bowl didn’t make any difference to the Kyle Shanahan hype. Ben Johnson will land a head coaching gig as long as he wants one and doesn’t want to return to Detroit, which he arguably shouldn’t want to do after last night.

It's a different place. I used to go visit my Aunt and Uncle a lot years ago. When they were alive they lived on Avery St for literally ever. It's came a long way from what it was.

With all that being said though, I'm glad the Lions lost. They have turned into one of the top 5 most annoying fan bases in 2 years. One of the worst experiences I've had at a sports bar was last season listening to a bunch of them. I was worse than being around Eagle and Cowboy fans simultaneously.

I have not had that experience in the years being here, even attending the Lions vs. Panthers game in 2023.

The Redskins fanbase has always been terrible, so it sucks to see them have success.

seems like he is finding a way to win without a good wr room

Jayden Daniels is the next evolution of QB. High end passing with high end running. If he was Cam or Josh Allen's size - oh lawd!

But... Scary Terry has been one of the most underrated WRs in the NFL since he was drafted. Baller. Always has been a true #1. Jamison and Zach Ertz aren't slouches either. Dyami came out of nowhere. He was mostly a speed guy buried under a deep receiving corps. Getting a chance after they traded Dotson and Curtis Samuel. WAS has always had weapons and a decent and sometimes really good oline. Defense, playcalling and a meddling owner has been their issue. That's why they thought Ron would save them. Gave him too much power though. Unfortunately he turned back in to conservative Ron, and he didn't have Luke or TD.
