So To All The Smart Posters Who Knew We Would Never Draft a QB Early...

Many believed Henderson would be released last June after coach Jack Del Rio ripped him for pulling out of offseason drills, suggesting he wasn't committed and was faking a shoulder injury to avoid work.

Henderson and Del Rio eventually worked out their differences in a private meeting, and Henderson vowed he had "bought in."

Still, that was yet another problem for Henderson. His clothing company -- For Big Men, By Big Hen -- folded after opening in 2007. One of his closest friends, Marcus Stroud, was traded in March 2008. He also admittedly had other undisclosed personal issues that affected his play.

It sure sounds like Henderson has too much getting in the way of playing football

The last few years the Panthers have whiffed incredibly at qb's. You get the most highly rated qb that dropped the MOST in draft..his TO ry. The lazy minded goes with BPA to save their butts and at the same time not have to worry about guranteed money.

I wonder though if they had NOT traded this years 1st they would not have picked Claussen anyways?

I bet they would have. And they've only drafted five QBs in franchise history before this year, and only one of them was in the first round. Although he didn't have a long career here, he's had a good one. The others were in the sixth (Jerry Colquitt), 4th (Weinke), 5th (Fasani), and 4th (LeFors). Traditionally, those aren't the rounds where you expect to find stars. So I kind of think the "whiffed" characterization is a little unfair where QBs are concerned.

WR's, on the other hand...

i thought by our pick we'd be having to decide between the 2 or so receivers left expected to go in the 2nd round. almost the whole group fell to the 3rd round or lower. i'd be interested in seeing all the people who got picked higher than expected in order to see why so many of our targeted players dropped, but i'm much too lazy for that. i sense this may be the biggest year for busts.
