What to look for when Training Camp begins...

Recommended Posts

In my projection right now, I have:

Smith

Jarrett

LaFell

Edwards

Wright

as our WR depth chart... Moore is ineligibe for the PS (I think) and Martin might be too... Gettis is a prime target for it, but this also means the other guys above are simply cut...

Moore's saving grace could be his semi-ability to return or contribute on special teams where Jarrett has no value there... Moore could also beat out Wright, but I doubt that with Wright's ST history...

I don't think the QB battle will be as interesting as most. Moore is the guy for 2010 (not much known after that).

I think the starting WR, DE, and if we bring in some vets the DT spots will be the most competitive.

at WR i think that jarrett and kenny moore are on the outside looking in. one of those two will have a spot but smitty, lafell, and edwards will be ahead of them and gettis will probably have a slight edge. i would say wallace wright has a pretty secure spot because of his STs strengths. wright's competition won't come from the other WRs...it will be with the other gunners and ST players but even with that i think he's pretty much a lock.

my projected WR corps:

smitty

lafell

edwards

gettis

wright

last spot (if a 6th WR is on the roster at all) will be either jarrett or moore but not both. they have a pretty good idea what they have in those two guys and i don't think they are really all that impressed with ether one.

we'll go with the four RBs and fiammetta. you have a new QB (which i consider moore to be) and you need to have a solid run game with a deep bench. this is one area i don't think they cut corners.

This is the projection I have...

Keep in mind too that we could very well be carrying 3 QBs, which will also cut down on a spot for another FB... and with Sutton doing alright in fill-in duty at FB, he'll stick...

I tend to think that, this year, the extra spots on offensive skill positions will go to QB and WR... RB and FB will be the same as last year, 4 - 1 respectively...

Why do you think Gettis has an edge over Moore and Jarrett? Special teams?

We had two fullbacks last year. ;)

Agree..

Moore will be the starter in 2010...

The WR battle will be the best we have had in years. Alot of guys really pushing it to make the squad. I a positive a couple will step up and be what we hope they can be.

Moore is the man and I think will hold off Clausen.

I personnally would like to see Jarrett finally live up to his billing. But LaFell is gonna push him hard. He has an advantage as he is a better blocker than Jarrett.

In the end the Panthers will be better than they were last season.

One other position I am interested in is the DT position. We will have 3 guys who were injured last season and Johnson and Hayden fighting for 2 spots. 2 of them will end up in the rotation and one will be gone.

i don't think that fox & co. are all that impressed with them. special teams would give him an edge for sure but even beyond that i think that they are the ones on the fringe.

jarrett did just enough in that last game to give himself another look. had it not been for that he probably wouldn't be on the team right now. i don't think they would have any problem cutting him loose. as far as kenny moore is concerned, i don't think he has done much of anything at all to be given a whole lot more consideration. i just don't think they like him all that much. he and jarrett have huge uphill battles ahead of themselves. the new guys definitely have the advantage.

I'm sorry but I have a hard time believing that Moore will be the starter. We all saw how excited Fox/Hurney were to get Clausen.

IF Moore starts, he's going to be on a very short leash.

agreed. moore is penciled in as the starter but the pencil that was used to do that has a pretty good eraser.

clausen is that bright and shiny new toy that they can't wait to try out and they are going to look for any excuse at all to give it a try.

fox was really reluctant to give moore the start in '07 and last year. fox won't have nearly that reluctance to hand it over to clausen.
