Changes already are afoot. Filed to ESPN: Jaguars will release former Pro Bowl DT John Henderson today. Their top two picks were DTs.

One other Jaguars note - the team also withdrew its tender offer to linebacker Clint Ingram, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Henderson is 31, idk if we are interested, my initial guess is no. but he is very massive, and probably cheap. 6'7", 335

John Henderson is about to leave the only team he's ever played for.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Jacksonville will release Henderson today.

The Jaguars had been shopping Henderson in a trade, and Schefter reports that the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants had expressed some interest. But now he'll become an unrestricted free agent.

The Jaguars used their top two draft picks on defensive tackles, which made it clear that they wanted to get younger at the position. Henderson had two years and $11 million left on his contract.

The 31-year-old Henderson was drafted by the Jaguars in 2002 and has been a starter on their defensive line ever since. He has missed only four games in eight seasons.

I would love this addition. My high school played him in the Tennessee state championship in 1997. I think he was that size, even then.

We have DTs, just not a lot of talent at the position. A change of scenery could be good for Henderson to get back to his old ways of carnage. I just can't believe Haynesworth turned out to be a better pro.

I believe a LOT of teams got DT tunnel-vision. Some even grabbed two DTs back to back. So...if you're sitting there as the Panthers FO and you're seeing this happening, and you know that this glut of young DTs hitting the NFL, what do YOU do.

Name one probowl DT that played for Ron Meeks. You can name the DEs, but the scheme doesn't really call for the Suhs and McCoys. Knowing some low-hanging fruit, LIKE John Henderson are going to be released, I think they made the right choice.

Pull in a couple of great vets to complement what we have and have a good rotation scheme going and I think we could be incredible.

Someone will pay him more than he's worth, and definitely more than we are willing to offer him at this stage of his career...

Would go against our philosophy: Draft your core... Sign role players... Avoid big ticket items that are on the downside of their career...
