One player changing positions, Lafell known to have questionable hands before the draft, Gettis was never projected high.

It showed Smith how little the front office was doing to get a receiver to compliment him. Many will say look at the shear number, but the quality does not exist, yet perhaps(I'm not saying this year either). Smith maybe has another 3 years being the Smitty we know.

So by going thru with their plan, the FO failed because they drafted 3 wr's? Makes no sense. He may be disappointed now how the rookies have looked up to this point, by how could he have been disappointed when they drafted 3 guys when we obviously needed help here. You said nothing ever, but making the people who thought it was good to bring in the numbers were all wrong. Your hindsight even sucks.

Way to revive a thread. Looking at the original question - Smith should only be disappointed if the FO made no attempt whatsoever to bring any WR's in (Draft, FA). They brought guys in, and none have wowed him yet supposedly. Most are young, inexperienced, or learning the position. Not sure what his expectations should even be at this point.

I wonder if Moose was disappointed when they waited 'til the third round to draft a receiver in 2003, especially since that receiver was probably only going to contribute to special teams.

I think Smith of all people knows not to count anybody out. These guys are young and inexperienced; they'll get better.

So your telling me of the available WR's on the market during this offseason that Smith wouldn't have preferred to have one of them lining up beside him, for in essence what we spent on draft picks this year? Yes, its more money to be spent in a year where they are cutting corners with the roster but I'd rather have one of the 3 WR's that have been on the market than what we drafted. Smith is tired of being one of the only capable receivers on this team. Put him with a stable QB situation or with receivers around him to take any heat off him ala Smith replacing Wayne or Moss, and he'd put up #1 WR stats every single year.

I do see your point, but no player is guaranteed to perform, no matter where they were drafted. I think this is why the front office drafted three receivers and kept some of these other young recievers -- in hopes just one or two would step up and be a player.

You made this thread right after the draft, so it appears you were intended on making statements about our selections. Almost making suggestion it would have been better not selecting any wr's at all. But what was the point of retreading this? You caught lightening in a bottle because of that article suggesting Smith is disappointed in our wr's... congrats on that.

I did say that about only being a Peppers fan, but it was sarcastic enough that anyone with two cents would figure that out.
