I don't see where there would be any disgruntlement from Smitty. We added 2 big receivers and a couple small ones (if you count Edwards). Going into camp we have 9 WR fighting for basically 3 spots (4 if you count KR/PR) on the ACTIVE roster.

I think the competition this summer amoung our WR will be the best we have seen in years. And I believe someone is gonna step up and take those positions.

Disappointment? Seriously?

I can't imagine Steve Smith being disappointed with our draft. We got talented players throughout the draft. We got receiver help, an athlete that Steve Smith will be able to help mold after himself, and we got great competition at the QB position. What is there to be disappointed about? I just don't see it.

Are you talking draft picks? Steve Smith was a 3rd rounder. The round the player is picked, doesn't dictate how good or bad a they will be.

If you were talking about a #1 receiver in general, lets talk about that real quick like. Regardless if we would have drafted one of the top 2 receivers in the draft, the defenses we face, will still see Steve Smith as the #1 threat, and give him the most attention. That is why I think so many people are over reacting to what Steve Smith said about no longer wanting to be the #1. His passion, the way he plays the game, dictates that he's going to be the top receiver on this team regardless who is drafted where.

I think he's talking about Smith wanting a No. 1 receiver to take his place, as he said in the past.

Of course, that's not going to happen, but I think (hope) that LaFell can come in and be a quality No. 2.

Smith likes a guy with a huge ego? Shocking!

Falcons can make jokes about Smitty punching out Clausen, but I actually think they'll get along great. Clausen will remind Smitty too much of himself to hate him.

One player changing positions, Lafell known to have questionable hands before the draft, Gettis was never projected high.

It showed Smith how little the front office was doing to get a receiver to compliment him. Many will say look at the shear number, but the quality does not exist, yet perhaps(I'm not saying this year either). Smith maybe has another 3 years being the Smitty we know.

Way to revive a thread. Looking at the original question - Smith should only be disappointed if the FO made no attempt whatsoever to bring any WR's in (Draft, FA). They brought guys in, and none have wowed him yet supposedly. Most are young, inexperienced, or learning the position. Not sure what his expectations should even be at this point.
