Anyone remember for the cartoon Yamato?

It was one of the earliest Hi-Tech cartoons form Japan. (weren't they all?)

It was a battleship that was a starship.

I can remember watching it back in the 70's? dubbed in english.

I'm surprised that no one has made a movie out of it, or at least a TV on Sci-Fi.

I have the entire set in Japanese with English subtitles. They are making a live action movie of it in Japan.

Hell yes I remember this. My older brother loved this show, and I'd watch it. I was so little, but I remember seeing that sub/battleship fly through space.

I also remember some other late 70's anime where there was the purple armored chick that was a cyborg or something, but I can't remember much else.
