I am convinced the staff was not confident in Bryce and that was why they didn’t play him.
They were right since our starters struggled again the Bills 3rd string.

I don't think that's right because he looked decent in training camp. There was no reason not to trust him. The player we saw in the first two games was not the same player we saw in training camp. I believe the coaching staff was overconfident and didn't realize that a new head coach/playcaller also needs in-game experience too.

He looked pretty shaky during the Bills preseason game. Even needing a 4th down conversion against scrubs.

Again, #1 flaw in your post is you're trying to compare Bryce's last 10 games vs the rest of the league's 17 game averages (for the 2 TD stat).

As like I pointed out, Nix falls below your 2 TD a game average number, but over his last 10 games he's actually at 2.5 per game.  If you pull the best 10 game stretch for all QB's this year, I'd be quite confident in saying Bryce is NOT in the top 16.

You don't want to remove the one (or two) best games from Bryce's averages but you want to include up to the 7 worst games from other QB's you're comparing him to.

And the reason I picked Goff was because he was so close to the 2 TD per game number over the course of the season.  Hence why I then did his best 10 game stretch to give a better comparison to your Bryce number, which again, he came in at 2.6 TDs per game.

If you want to use Bryce's 10 game numbers, you need to do equal comparisons for everyone else as well.

It all also again just ignores that this magical 2 TD per game number you like to point out is only the case because of 20% of the games in the stretch you're talking about, if not for that, it's significantly less.

Why are stats like this even being talked about over a season such as this last one?

💯  impossible as it was an incomplete season no matter how you look at it.

Not sure what is so difficult to admit that Bryce has played his ass off, and not only earned, but deserves to be our starter next year?

I don't see anyone stating we need to extend him now.

So from my perspective, this is just more of the always been against Byrce people holding on to anything to hedge their bets so they can be right should Bryce fail.

No, this is a fallacy born out of the comparison of Bryce's final 2 months compared to his first season and a half.  The ONLY reason he has "earned" or "deserves" to be the starter next year, is because we traded away a haul to take him at #1 and he's still on his rookie deal.

If Bryce was on his last year of his deal, what he did over the last 2 months, while an improvement, wouldn't have been enough to earn him a new contract next year.

If you can't separate those things, then it's a you problem.

I've said numerous times that he significantly improved this year and I no longer think he's the biggest bust in NFL history, but he only played well enough to get back to my initial projection of him, as about the 25th best QB in the league, a gap starter who will bounce around every couple years, not a franchise QB that can lead you to yearly contention.

In regards to your "why are we talking about stats" question, well that's just the easy way to talk about a player on message boards, especially for people who don't have access to all the game film and have the time to cut together videos to show why they think certain things about a player, this is a message board, not an actual NFL front office.

Whatever you say, sir.

Young is starting next year because he played well the second half of the year overall and he's under contract.... We don't have the capto get a FA upgrade, and we won't be in position to draft one (in large part due to his play tbh).  So he's it, and it's because of his play - if he stunk it up when Dalton went down, we would be looking for a new starter this offseason any way we could get one...

Now, the trade we made has put us in a position we can't really invest in a replacement anyway but thankfully for us his play end of last season means we don't need to.

You're absolutely crazy if you think his play this year would have been good enough to earn a contract extension to be our starter next year if he was heading into free agency.

I'm not denying that he improved, and I've said numerous times that while I don't believe in him as a high quality starter, I am rooting for him because it would be better for our franchise if he proved me wrong.  You seem to think people want him to fail just so they can be correct on him, but if that's the case, why do people like me time and time again say they want to be proven wrong?

But I'm still able to objectively look at his game and what he did and see that it was at best, average QB play.  But because of just how bad he was before that, people seem to think he was playing at an MVP level of quality or something, it's mind boggling how people are SOOOOOOOO convinced that he's already proven he can be our franchise QB.

It is absolutely killing the Bryce haters that they can't poo up every thread this offseason about how much he sucks and will never be an NFL QB. 😛

How is what you're doing helping anything to quell any toxicity? You did this same routine all throughout last offseason and then we opened the season with two of the worst Panthers games in nearly 3 decades and then you promptly slunk away.

Maybe we should all just take a chill pill and remember we root for the Carolina Panthers? I don't expect them to be bad next season but I also don't just automatically expect greatness either. If they are to make progress it's going to be gradual and we will all have to be patient. But if we see stinker games then we need to call it as we see it.

Homeboy finished the season in our arch rival’s house… the place that he was straight embarrassed to start his NFL career…  the place where the panthers invent a new way to lose each time… kryptonite central… and dropped a 40 burger on them, while Leading the game winning drive in OT.

I’m on record as one of the biggest Bryce doubters around, but damn. The clutch throw after throw after throw…

It glitters, but it’s so hard to feel like this team finally has something nice. Is this gold? The 3rd and 4th down conversions he has dropped dimes on lately feel so uncomfortable, because I’m so conditioned to the QB, WR or both f-ing it up and we gotta punt. 3rd and 8? 4th and 5? Guaranteed punt… but they haven’t been….  Against the 2 teams that are about to play in the SB.  It’s weird. Really weird. It feels flukey, but they keep happening.

44 in the kryptonite dome leading an OT drive FTW that handed the bird a losing season…

Im firmly on the wagon until proven otherwise, and that feels almost nauseating to admit.

    • I would take Graham over Mike Green if both are on the board.  And the dark horse that nobody is talking about at parties is Will Johnson, the shut er down CB from Michigan.  Across from Horn--oh my.  Keep Clowney and Wonnum and add an edge later-- But I think Graham is better at DT than Green is Edge.  Graham is one of those rear interior DL that can shut down a team--similar to Chris Jones with KC.
