And just how long would you have Clausen sit? Moore is very young, Deadpool.

Well, his contract is up next year isn't it? and if he's mediocre after playing an actual full season...he may not be "the guy" we all thought he was.

I'm not a physic...but I just feel that Moore is not long term, like most undrafted QBs are....

at best moore can become a above average qb in the mold of marc bulger while clausen can become elite in the mold of carson palmer but some things we can't measure like inner drive to get better will determine how much both progress. drew brees wasn't considered elite until the last couple seasons so you never know how someone can develop

gimme a break. pike forces too many throws. no way he's better than clausen, but we'll let camp and preseason sort it out.

Sure may the better man win. That's what they all say. Last season when Jake clearly sucked even in training camp with Moore making way more throws, we still let Jake start the first...I dunno 7 games? Fox isn't great at determining QB proficiency. Matt Moore is someone that the pundits compared to Tony Romo last year.....

whether we like it or not Jake earned fox's loyalty right or wrong from the games he has won for fox over the years, even though it was clear that Jake was done to most observers fox chose to try to ride his bad play out. Moore hasn't had that chance yet but he still can win the job if he really wants it. foxx will play whoever he feels give us a shot to win period!

Ah, but there's the rub -- do you trust Fox and Co. to put our best option at the quarterback position?

Why not? Fox is auditioning for his next job, if not for a new contract with the Panthers, so he has plenty of incentive to win right now. Besides that, he is not as close to any of these QB's like he was with Delhomme.

If Moore lights it up next season I would expect Clausen to be the one who gets traded. They won't let a franchise QB go, not when he proves himself like that. Look at the RB situation, Deangelo's been breaking ankles for 2-3 seasons now and is still the starter, despite Johnathan Stewarts amazing performances. Plus the FO is already trying to extend DWill.

I'm still pretty high on Moore, but I thought Claussen's mechanics were one of the things scouts really liked about him?

this, i watched every ND gave of the past 20 years or so. I still want Matt to win the job, but to say Claussen has any issues with the way he throws is just not true. the one thing i can say is when the poo hits the fan and its time to go win the game i wont feel bad having it in claussen's hands. i always thought ND was going to win everyone of those close games. it wasnt him that lost them it was the defense and run game. i always felt like jimmy was going to get it done. im excited to have more than one option in case anyone doesnt work out well. It will be nice to look at the QB as a position of strength for us instead of us just having someone serviceable. wouldnt it be nice to have a QB who could keep defensive coordinators up at night?

    • Film Room Playlist _ NFL Pro — Mozilla Firefox 2024-11-25 10-20-11.mp4 🎯🎯🎯 There were a couple of "fans" yesterday saying that this wasn't a helmet-to-helmet shot... 👀 Looks like based on where Moore was and where the play ended, he'd have gotten maybe just a yard or two more. Chuba was downed at the KC 16 and Moore was on his way back to the QB, so the offense got what they could for the most part. After reviewing the all-22, Bryce made the right call here. Tremble was the hot and KC sent both LBs. He gets it out with a clear pocket but it's quickly collapsing. If there was a little more time it looked like AT came free at the end but whether or not Bryce would've been upright still is another story. Smart move to get the completion and keep the field goal in play to stay alive. George Karlaftis is about to get himself a big ole hug and Bryce heaves it to where David Moore is going. Trent McDuffie slipped just a step or two before this shot, but we can see the clear DPI here as he's wrapped around David Moore before knocking him over as the ball gets there.
    • I’m taking a TE early day 3 Ian Thomas and Tremble are FA.  We should have no desire to bring them back.   There’s more than enough film of ball bouncing off their hands or facemask.
    • Daniel Jones sometimes would sling it for 300 or 400 yards.  That's my stance.  We know what Bryce is.  If you consistently play any QB at this level, they largely are going to end up w/ some good days/games.  last time Mahomes was at BOA, Teddy Bridgwater threw for 300+ yards and a couple TDs and the Matt Rhule Panthers almost took him down.  We know what Bryce is.  Now we got people predictably falling into a predictable trap.
