I am educated, and I didn't come here to bash anyone. But some of you guys are acting like it's the end of the world drafting Clausen. He has tremendous talent and you guys are lucky to draft him. I'm just saying.

And yeah we do have fans, but unfortunately for us, most of them are pathetic.

where does this talent lay at? he had to pass BECAUSE THEY WERE ALWAYS LOSING, which is easy to put up big numbers if you only pass, and hell, when you have golden tate catching passes it's even easier

I'll agree that Clausen was one of the better value picks in the draft, jagsfan911, but you really need to do some research on Moore. He's looked pretty decent in most of his starts, and went 4-1 last year against a few very good opponents.

I don't care how good Clausen was in college, Matt Moore has proven he can start in this league. Now, can Clausen come out and do the same? Of course. But no need to imply that Moore can't lead this team when all indications are that he can.

I think it's funny how everyone was crying for us to draft a QB in the first round the last 2 years now, and we finally do it, and now every is having a cow about it. I love Moore, and I hope he does great, but I'm not opposed to Jimmy taking over, I just want the best one to play, and Im sure Fox will make the right decesion.

And LOL to all the dumb people that think Matt Moore is going to be the starter of the Panthers and the future. Either your so in denial that it's ridiculous, or you know nothing about football. Clausen is light years better than Moore and Pike.

They didn't draft Clausen that high to be a back-up, sorry Moore fans.

Thanks for coming by here. We welcome you, seriously.

I love the Clausen pick, but don't think he should start or even be given a chance to staart this year. You will see that Matt Moore is a very good QB...don't take my word...just make sure to watch this season. You do not win 4 out of 5 games, incl. the Vikings, Giants, & Saints w/o being very good. The Saints game was end of season with nothing onthe line for them, but the others had playoff implications (Vikes & Giants).

I see what you're saying, but our quarterback situation in the last five games of last season didn't look quite as dire as it has over the last couple of years with Delhomme.

I don't mind the Clausen pick, but it's just funny to me that the front office finally understands the importance of finding a franchise quarterback and in one draft takes more quarterbacks than it has since 2002.

We say that the situation was dire, but even with Jake the team was never that bad. Everyone went crazy last year when the bad playoff game carried over. Now we have some options and an open competition which people have been yelling for, for years, so lets sit back and enjoy the ride.

I believe Moore will be a good QB, and he earned his shot, but this is what competition does, and may the best man win. Fox will pick the best one.

I agree with you. But in the six years Delhomme was the starter, Fox and Co. drafted just two quarterbacks. Why did they not try to bring in some competition when Delhomme was the starter?

Surely Matt Moore didn't look so bad last year that they felt they needed to draft two quarterbacks and a quarterback/receiver hybrid. You can make the argument that they were tremendous value picks, but they wouldn't have made these picks with Delhomme as the starter.

Well, I suppose with Delhomme there and to the possible suprise of some people, they felt that Matt Moore was an adequate back up, but now that he's gone, and all we have is a Hunter Cantwell, why not bring in a good QB to to make competition? What people have to understand is that for the last six years, Delhomme WAS our franchise QB and you don't give competition to a franchise QB. Moore has now come in, and he is not technically considered our "Franchise QB" yet. So that might be a reason, but I don't know, I'm not and NFL coach or scout, so I'm not really qualified in this talk.

You may not bring direct competition in for a franchise quarterback, but you do bring in a young guy who can takeover when necessary.

It's easy to say that they thought Matt Moore could be that guy, but I don't think that's the case. Had Delhomme not been injured, I sincerely believe we wouldn't have seen Moore even take the field last year.

That they took two potential quarterbacks in this year's draft -- and pretty much none in past years -- to me points to the front office's inability to find a franchise quarterback before we needed one. Think Rodgers in Green Bay, Kolb in Philly, etc.

on Clausen being a douche...

I'm curious how the Ryan Leaf experiment affected FO's reason to skip over him...

The self-entitlement was strong with Leaf... I wouldn't doubt this had more to do with Clausen dropping. People saw it once and usually stray from it happening again and to their organization.

Well it works the same way, Had Brett not left, Aaron would have never seen the field, had McNabb got injured early, Kold wouldn't have come in. It's about making the best of your shots, and these QB's did, even Moore. We drafted QB's and none panned out, but in the eye's of the FO, the undrafted rookie Matt Moore played better than all 4 drafted QB's they had gone after. And you don't use a first round pick on a QB when you have your "franchise one." And for a note, alot of our 2nd rounders were spend on recievers trying to find the right one.

I think we've done fine as a franchise, you don't walk away with the 8th most wins over a 10 years period if your franchise isn't being run right. There are alot of teams that wished they hadn't spent so much time looking for that QB. But hey thats football, luck is involved right?

moore played extremely well last season, probably better than most of us thought he could. based on talent alone i feel moore can be a above average qb who is best suited as a "game manager" in the right system, while clausen has "franchise" potential which is why we picked him. i do think moore will start unless clausen just blows him away in preseason either way i'd be happy with either as our backup.

Jimmy was the best rated qb in the draft by many. I certainly viewed him as a better choice than bradford. I know I'm not alone on this. To get him at 48 was a steal. The panthers finally have a true top talent qb. He has all the talent to do it.

That being said..I don't view him as a day 1 starter.

I also don't care about his personality as long as he wins games for us.

I agree with you here. I thought from day 1 he will be a better pro than bradford. And that shoulder injury of Bradfords really does scare me. For Jimmy to go to a major D-1 school like Notre Dame and start as a true freshman says something. I know he had a bad record from his freshman to junior year but he really did put up some eye popping numbers. It's not his fault his defense was God awful.
