(The State, Columbia) Eric Norwood's NFL dreams came true Saturday, when the Gamecock great heard his name called by the Carolina Panthers in the fourth round of the draft.p/Norwood (LB, 6-1, 252) was a first-team All-American and was projected to be a second or third round selection, but had to wait a day later than expected to be chosen.

great value at that spot in the draft. i'm doubtful he's better than anderson or conner, but another stud to rebuild the severely broken special teams.

with Conner, Edwards, Norwood, Hudson, Wallace, Witherspoon, and Francisco, the special teams could indeed be special.

i don't think we're going to be able to keep all those guys. wallace is the receiver, right, i think? he's gone with all the receivers we have now. we only have so many roster spots. some others are on the bubble.

You're probably right, but they'll definitely have young talent to pick from. Wallace Wright is indeed a WR from the Jets, although I think he was just a special teams player for the most part.

Edds was sitting there tauntingly at 112. Edds would be an excellent fit at the SLB position. Great in coverage (Norwood not so much) and plays the run well as well. I hate this damn FO picking all these conversion guys. Its ridiculous instead of getting a S we draft a CB and try to convert him. Instead of getting a WR we draft a QB to play there. Instead of a SLB or a DE we get a tweener that will probably never start at either position.

I will not miss you at all Hurney.

Watch game flim before you type stop living by a draft book. This kid was a 1st team All American in the BEST College Football Conf. SEC has the best player year in year out. He is a baller who makes plays in the run game and pass game. He played at suckass USC but was a major reason they didn't get blown out alot like the should have playing in that league. This kid is not just a Special teams player nor is he a DE or pass rush speicalist. He comes in day one and is a threat too take SLB job from Anderson and Connors. In my mind if he learsn this playbook (which he will because he is real smart) he is our starting SLB and JA and DC are back-ups. This was a steal.

Norwood played DE his first two seasons. He dropped from 270 to 240 when they moved him to OLB. He can easily put it back on. This guy is a monster pass rusher.

If we wanted a DE why didn't we get Austen Lane? Why do we continue to draft these conversion guy?
